  • Comments Thread For: Hearn: No Question That Joshua vs. Ruiz Rematch is Next

Eddie Hearn, promoter for former world champion Anthony Joshua, says there is no question that his boxer will move forward with a rematch against Andy Ruiz. Last month, Joshua suffered a shocking defeat when he was dropped four times and stopped in the seventh round by Ruiz at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Yeah, heaven forbid a boxer want a neutral location where they disclose if the other guy is on steroids and has loaded wraps.

      The audacity!

The fight will be at MSG rather Hearns like it or not.

          The audacity of -

          A) Having the champ fight on the opponents turf (by default).
          B) Having the gall to dishonor a contract just to weasel out of returning the gesture.
          C) If AJ was on steroids, he's proof that steroids shouldn't be banned

A-Side Andy knows he was a fluke and doesn't want it proven in the ring.

How is winning 6 of 7 rounds, knocking your opponent down 4 times and making him quit a fluke? Everyone is saying the win is a fluke like Joshua didn’t get beaten pillar to post.

And you keep claiming he’s dishonouring the contact while admitting you don’t know what’s in the contract.

And why does the champ need to fight on the opponents turf? Because Joshua couldn’t find anyone to fight him at Wembley?

Are you even capable of actually reading an article before commenting on it?

"Ruiz would rather have the fight take place in the United States or Mexico, but contractually Joshua holds the playing power with the location of the second fight."

                A) No one expected Andy to win, much less by ko/quit. Clear fluke.

                B) Once again, if Andy is a shot caller, he's wearing a silencer. He's the most tight lipped shot caller in the history of.

                C) AJ was the champ and fought in America. What AJ did before Andy is the definition of irrelevant. Most champs/A-Sides stay at home.....Unless there's a provision/stipulation in that signed contract.

                D) Andy's Army are already saying how Andy shouldn't have to get on a plane because he's the champ. WTF was AJ ?!?!?

I really can't wait for AJ to regain them belts. It would be even sweeter if it is fought on Andy's turf (which is not Mexico, apparently).

Any fan of the sport is crazy if they don't think this is one of the most important matches in HW history. Highly touted undefeated champion is stopped by a flabby second tier fighter. Does Ruiz have Joshua's number? Or was the last fight just another fluke like we've seen so many times in HW history?

This all depends on preparation. IMO, whichever of the two is seriously ready.... that's who ups their reputation by a huge margin. May sound like a simple formula... but just think about where the loser of the rematch stands in the grand scheme of the HW picture then. More at stake for Joshua, yes, but also Ruiz won't be seen as the spoiler anymore if he loses. Huge implications. Huge fight. Can't wait.
