    Why Didnt Gatti Throw More!?!?

compubox numbers calculated that the total number of power shots landed for each fighter was 51%, but baldomir threw almost TWICE as much.....if gatti had let his hands go it probably would have been the difference in the fight!!!!!!!!

well he never threw his right hand, like not at all. he pretty much flicked his jab here and there, and threw the left hook mostly. whenever he was in close he would throw a 1-2 combo then wait for baldomir to hit him. i honestly thought baldomir would win, but i also thought gatti would put up a much better fight.

Gatti should have never stood in front of him, he thought he could just take that punishment that Baldomir would dish out, bad call

He was being countered with well timed shots. Very deceptive skills from Baldy. Baldy has no true power, yet those well placed and well timed shots hurt Gatti almost everytime they landed.

Good post. Too many people are saying Baldomir has 'no skills' but last night his timing was outstanding. He will never look smooth throwing combos but he picked his shots perfectly against Gatti and he was for the most part consistent. I think he slowed down for about one round (seven or eight?). I didn't like Gatti's body language, he looked confused about how and when to engage.

Because Baldy's style is to eat the incoming stuff on his granite chin and counter you with hard right hands.

Baldy isn't a FAST guy but he can hit you because he has EXCELLENT timing. He has been able to put hands on two top ten welterweights - so I give him credit for that.

Gatti doesn't like being countered. As soon as PBF started countering him (ROUND ONE) Gatti stopped throwing. The same thing again last night.

The difference was that PBF slipped the incoming, and Baldy gobbled it up. But the result is the same.

Most exchanges always came out to be in baldy's favor. Baldy would hit him in the face, Gatti would counter, but then Baldy would counter that and hit him again then back out. Thats a 2:1 hit ratio. Baldy would also dodge Gatti's counters a lot because he was quick to lean back away from a punch... Gatti tried to be a counter puncher this fight and failed miserably.

Baldy had the right distance throughout the whole fight. Gatti was trying to find a way to get in and he did at times. He would land some clean hooks and combos but Baldy would come back with his own missles. Gatti could not back this guy up for ****.
