Classy statement by "Browny" Subriel Matias. Myself being Puerto Rican, I'm glad he got the win but devastated that Maxim died. It's very tragic and all so sad for Dadashev, his family, for Browny, for all involved. It was touching to read that Subriel said he didn't even want the paycheck for the fight. In tragic times like these, that example and realness that Browny expressed is what it's all about.

Hoping also Matias can not let it get to him too much while he’s still active but I’m sure this is something that will be with him for the rest of his life.

I hope Matias sees a psychiatrist very soon to help him get through this because he will have nightmares that will seem to go on forever. Whatever he does he cannot let any voice in his head tell him he had any responsibility in this or that he could have done anything differently. He did nothing wrong at all but even then, people can feel guilt. He is going to live through hell for some time over this and will hurt and this will be very hard for him to handle. I hope he recovers soon but it will be a dark time for some time to come for him. He has to find his smile again and hope to overcome and lessen the impact this will have on him and return to what he does best.Last edited by richardt; 07-24-2019, 09:06 PM.

Hopefully Subriel can move forward from this like Kovalev and Sugar Ray Robinson. None of the fighters ever forget this, it is something that stays with them forever. Hopefully though Browny can move forward like Kovalev and Sugar Ray Robinson did.

I feel for Matias. It's like a double edge sword. Let's be honest, EVERY fighter swings full force to knock their opponents head off and swings full force to the body to break their ribs. But deep inside they don't want their opponents to suffer any fatal damages.
Hope Matias overcomes this.

This happened pretty early in Matias career. He could turn out to start to box more rather than his relentless pressure style he has now and get less ko's and more losses.
I remember when Roy Jones Jr after his friend Gerald McClellan's fight with Benn, changed his style and got many less ko's because he was very affected by that fight.
It's a simple fight in a sport, not a death match. Unless of course you are a psychopath.
RIP WARRIOR

So sad. And his family has do a goddamn Gofundme. I can't believe all the good PR for Top Rank because they pay for a funeral. Boxrec declaring McGirt "correctly stopped the fight" because he pulled him out in the final round. The athletic commission said well brain injuries happen in the gym. No they don't. They happen in one-sided UD's.
I love boxing but the exploitation and the way everyone shrugs it's no one's fault is sickening.Last edited by aaronbnb; 07-24-2019, 09:41 PM.
