Worst excuse for a championship fight ever?

I am amazed at how bad Gatti and Baldomir are. My dad was watching that and asked me how the hell that was for a recognized championship. Baldomir has no skill whatsoever. He looked outright pathetic in there with Gatti, who looked even worse. I seriously laughed at least three times every round. Now I'm not trying to kick either of these fights, especially Gatti when he's down, but that was just garbage. They both have tremendous heart and can take a great punch, but as far as boxing goes, this was one of the worst excuses for a championship level fight I have ever seen.

On a side note, I hope everyone who's been saying all week that Gatti should be in the Hall of Fame realize how ****** they look now.

before you and i get into another flame contest, think about this: do you really want to lump this fight into the "worst championship fights ever" category when you've got some bernard hopkins fights, john the bum ruiz fights, and chris byrd fights that are 100x worse?

you gotta admit, there were some good parts in this fight where it was pretty exciting. but i really dont think this was anywhere near "the worst champ fight ever".

I'm really not trying to take credit away from Baldomir's win because he fought Gatti the only way he could and won it with big punches and a great showing of heart/chin. Gatti should have been boxing, but he's a brawler by nature. So I'm not saying these guys are trash, but neither of them showed any skill tonight whatsoever. Baldomir lunges with his punches and staggers around the ring when he misses. Gatti is just as goofy bouncing his ass on the ropes and ****. Just all out ridiculous fight that really makes the welterweight division look bad. Hopefully somebody steps up and takes charge. Right now Baldomir is the only one doing anything, calling out Mayweather and Hatton. What a story if he somehow beat another big name next.

but get this: this was for THE recognized welterweight championship. Hopkins at least looked good when he was beating up on some of those idiots, and Byrd always looks good. When he doesn't look good it's because he's brawling and making it exciting. Let me use this for example: Byrd-McCline is much more respectable than what went down tonight.

I never said tonight's fight wasn't exciting, I said I've never seen two poorer "championship level fighters" going at it.

The fight was entertaining, but it wasn't exactly fought at a high skill level. But yeah, the Gatti for HOF **** was pretty laughable.

I was telling Asian Sensation the same thing. This didn't look professional at all. They both looked to the ref when they headbutted each other. Baldo lowblowed Gatti and they voluntarily stopped the action of the fight at the end of the round. The ref was ordering popcorn while they looked at each other after the low blow.

Gatti was down on the ropes earlier, sitting on the ropes. The ref didn't call it a knockdown.

It was just sloppy sloppy sloppy.

That's what I'm saying. it's exciting, yeah, but neither fighter looked good except when Baldomir was unloading on Gatti. If you cut out everything but the clips of Baldomir beating up on Gatti against the ropes, then yeah he looks pretty good. the rest of the time he looks terrible. Gatti fights are always entertaining. he showed skill against Leija and Dorin, and Mayweather showed skill against Gatti, which makes those fights all more worthy of being called championship caliber fights.

I am outright saying this fight WAS exciting to me, but it was NOT a highly skilled bout worthy of being deemed a championship fight.
