    Golden Boy getting desperate?

After Ángel Acosta lost his belt, that left Golden Boy with only three champions: Canelo Álvarez, Jaime Munguia and Rey Vargas. Surely this isn’t enough to compete with Matchroom, PBC and Top Rank. And DAZN needs more intriguing main events to garner more subscribers, so what does Golden Boy do? Sign a champion from minimum weight, a division that no one in the US cares about.

How desperate of a move is this by Golden Boy?

They also have Vergil Ortiz and Ryan Garcia which are the next big **** to come out of Golden Boy, they are fine. Vergil Ortiz runs through almost anyone at PBC or Matchroom at 140 already.

I wouldn’t bet my money on it. Golden Boy prospects have been dropping like flies lightly, Vergil Ortiz might be next.

And I highly doubt Vergil Ortiz will beat Matchroom’s Hooker or PBC’s Garcia.

Ortiz would take Hooker out right now.

Definitely too early to talk about him against Garcia. Obviously they are stablemates but even if they weren't, Ortiz can't compete with Garcia yet.

Vergil is gonna be a bad mfer. And wtf they got Canelo. These other mfers barely had a pulse to boxing fans anyway even if they did have belts. I think he's just picking up a guy whos cheap & has garnered some grassroots kinda buzz with his pretty record. He'll be a solid co-main type guy for them. And maybe with GBP/DAZN behind him they could do some 105lb tournament or something a lil compelling for a lil guy division who knows.

Definitely doesn't seem desperate to me. Seems opportunistic & low risk.

Vergil isn't just a random prospect. He's one of the best prospects in boxing right now. I don't think they should rush him into a big fight, but he's gonna be ready for that level soon & I think those other guys will be less prepared for Vergil then he'll be for them when it does happen.

Ryan Garcia on the otherhand could catch an L any day now. I think he's one of the most overhyped prospects out there.
