If Keith starts losing fights, will Pac's win be forgotten about?

Hopkins still gets a lot of credit for beating unbeaten pavlik even though pavlik didn't accomplish anything significant afterwards. His Thurman will be considered a great win.

One of the more interesting facts with this fight going into it was Thurman had more questions on him than Manny, the old guy, did which is a pretty uncommon thing. I honestly thought youth would still overcome the questions, & it almost did, but Manny was too good or Thurman lost more than most thought or he never even had it THAT good to begin with.

Good question. Thurman's future can enhance, or detract from, Pac's strong victory. I'm totally on the fence as to which way it will go, just as I was about who was going to win the fight on Saturday (though when pressed, I picked Thurman.) The win will always look good. But will it be great?

Rosy glasses say Thurman could build on his newfound activity, sharpen his powers, take on Spence or Crawford and maybe pull out a victory. If so, Pacquaio's win looks godlike and tremendous.

On the other hand, heading into the Pacquaio fight, Thurman was averaging just one fight per year for four years straight. Now he's had a couple fights. Will he now revert to inactivity (injuries or no)? Worse, will he defeat a second tier welter only to be annihilated by Spence or Crawford? If so, Pac's win will at least remain an attractive footnote to his career of taking on anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Which would be my guess. I tend to think that Thurman is NOT headed into some great rebirth. "Silk pajamas" and all that. I wouldn't be surprised if he never faces Spence or Crawford at all.

If Thurman starts declining then this last fight will be part of the reason why. The beating he took against Pacquiao will surely take something out of him. Keith will not be the same fighter going forward.
