Seems like Marquez (with the exception of Floyd) seemed to have Manny figured out. What was it about Marquez's style that caused so many problem. Guys just seem to be looking to counter him.

Yeah, Jessie Vargas took it to heart and mind because Arum was hinting on the possibility of getting a Pac fight. Even hired RJJr for his trainer, applied it to Demarco and actually was connecting. Applied it again with Bradley and caught him with a huge Marquez punch. And Tim almost got KO'd. Finally, Vargas got successful with Sadam Ali.

Pacquiao's whole style in a similar way to Lomachenko's style, is entirely dependent on getting the opponent out of position.

Marquez understood that, fairly early on; if he didn't go for any of the unnecessary movement, Pacquiao would be there to land on.

Thurman seemed to figure that out late, but that body shot messed things up late; if you bear down on Pacquiao and don't go for the, you can fire at will almost.

People forget Pacquiao won the first 3 fights, they were close but I don’t see how he lost any. The fourth Marquez was Roided to the gills, the guys a cheat.

I’d imagine they’re sitting back trying to land a counter because there’s not much choice either. Actually to be fair to Thurman, he took the fight to him plenty of times.

Usually though, what are you meant to do? It’s not easy to stand a fight with him because of his hand speed and power, standing and trading knowing he might hit you 3 times for every 1 you land isn’t a great idea.

So unless you have some really high IQ like Floyd, or maybe someone who is extremely physical and big and could possibly trap him on the ropes and not let him work, then you’re probably resigned to trying to not get caught in a whirlwind of punches from Manny and trying to nail him with a shot.

Floyd was even trying that same counter right that Marquez used on Pacquiao when he came in with that studder step. I feel like after all those fights Marquez finally got that timing right. He was practicing that in camp and even dropped his sparring partner with that same punch. But what was up with Marquez looking like the incredible hulk that night all jacked up all of the sudden and at that age with Memo also as his PT.
