PBC on FOX - Pacquiao/Thurman PPV prelims draws just 880K viewers

Just 880K viewers once again dead last in network tv ratings once again setting a new low for the Series. 3 of the last 4 PBC on FOX cards have set at the time the alltime low mark for the PBC on FOX series.

PBC on Fox Saturday draws 880,000 viewers

    July 22, 2019

PBC on Fox Saturday night drew 880,000 viewers in fast overnight ratings per Television By Numbers. The 2-hour event which supplemented the Fox PPV featuring Pacquiao-Thurman drew a 0.2 share in the A18-49 demo and a 2 share.

The telecast on Fox was last in overall viewership when compared to the other 3 networks of ABC, NBC and CBS. A rerun of Shark Tank on ABC drew nearly 2 million viewers on Saturday night in the 8-9pm timeframe while a rerun on Dateline NBC drew 2.47 million viewers in the 9-10pm hour.

PBC on Fox featured Caleb Plant and Mike Lee in the feature bout of the telecast. Plant took care of Lee in the 3rd round.

2019 PBC on Fox (fast nationals)

    July 880,000

    June (Sunday) 1.007M

    May 1.21M

    April 1.01M

    March 1.34M

    February 1.26M

    January 1.72M

    Payout Perspective:

It’s a little surprising that Saturday’s Fox event drew less than a million viewers in fast nationals despite it being a lead-in to a Pacquiao fight. Also, Caleb Plant has been a fighter that PBC has been pushing. He had an impressive victory yet it appears that less people tuned in.

Does anyone really care how many viewers the early prelims to a PPV had on TV? What if all these viewers purchased the PPV? That would be huge in 2019.

The data is pretty clear: put name guys in competitive fights or do shit numbers.

These are free prelims to encourage people the buy that PPV tho. Only Fox has the relevant info there.

I don't know if that's bad, I need context. I mean, casuals weren't going to watch these fights then pay for a PPV, essentially spending their entire Saturday watching boxing. Also, the prelims could be seen free on their app.

Ajagba was getting rocked around by Bald Bull and the Caleb Plant Subway sandwich bout really pushed the PPV buys...

LDBC channels didn’t even push this fight because PAC and Thurman don’t apply to the Only-Spence agenda. So there goes a huge amount of buys down the drain.

It’s really just the Filipino American buys that will dictate the outcome of buys.

For a comp most of the UFC PPV prelims aired on the much smaller sister station FS1...and still they were drawing 1M viewers. less then 1M on the FOX which is a network station not cable and in millions more homes is terrible. For a comp last year UFC 229 prelims drew 1.308M viewers on FS1 before the PPV started.

UFC was on ESPN at the same time, lol.

                  Should've probably waited until Tuesday.

More comps even if these ratings were on cable TV station for FOX smaller sister station FS1 they would still be lower then UFC's PPV prelims on ESPN (Cable not network station). Since UFC moved to ESPN their PPV prelims avg exactly 1.07M viewers for the 6 PPVs they have had so far. And the last UFC PPV was 2 weeks ago drew 1.145M viewers on ESPN for the prelims.
