I listened to an interesting interview on the radio last night. Michael Spinks was talking about his career.

When the host asked him about Tyson, he told him he gave it his very best and just got overwhelmed by Tyson's speed and power before he could get anything going.

Do you believe he gave it his best?

He wasn't a Holyfield who had the fighting style and durability to win.

No version of Michael Spinks would ever be able to defeat Mike Tyson.

The eyes never lie. He didn't wanna be there and was mentally beaten way before the first bell.

Yes absolutely. He may have been intimidated but he was caught early and could not hurt Tyson to hold him off.

Of course he gave his all, boxers are proud men. If he didn't give all then many others didn't also. Don't pick on spinks. Many Tyson opponents who lost in first round look like they took a dive

Spinks beat Larry Holmes so that’s sum perspective. Spinks got caught by Tyson at his most dangerous in the first round. A round one Mike is at his fastest most powerful and most willing to throw. He hasent taken any punishment yet or flinching..My old man said a guy named Holyfield would beat Tyson one day the day after the Spinks fight. Even Holy said the first punch Tyson threw at him surprised him. But yeah I think Slinks tried just didn’t get far enough out of the gate. I think Brezeale tried against Wilder but it’s tough when u fight guys with erasers for hands.

No reason to disbelieve. But when your opponent is punching holes through the wall, that you can hear, before you fight him,is going to leave you somewhat shook, when you're fighting an in your prime KO artist with bad intentions.Even Holyfield might not have been able to beat Tyson at that time.

Yes, I believe him 100%. Spinks was a great champion with no history of not trying hard to win. I can't think of any reason why he would not try his hardest to win. Tyson just overwhelmed him as he said. Tyson often did that to good fighters at that time in his career..
