Sure he was ranked that high, but as someone who has watched enough of his fights, he was clearly starting a decline in 2016. Hopkins was taking notice of it against Brook. Whether it was because he was only fighting twice a year, he physically didn't look like he did previous years. Like I said, he could still perform at a high level because he was so much better than non-elite fighters, but at the highest level, I don't think his body was quite there. He doesn't move the same as he used to, his punches are slower etc. That's not so much the opponent as it is really a 35+ year old guy moving how most guys do when they get to that age. Abel really did him a disservice by not preserving his body like he should. He should have had a nutritionist years ago.

I have to disagree with you there and say it’s just the opposite. I’ll elaborate. A fighter can be old for fighting even at an early age. Depending on how many tough fights and wars he’s been in. GGG at 35 was still in great shape. Previous to Jacobs, GGG had never been in a tough fight let alone a war. So In my opinion, the reason behind the illusion that he had finally started to slow down due to age was just that an illusion. Instead it was do to GGG finally facing a true elite caliber opponent in Jacobs. And not these overmatched opponents who at best were subpar. And Golovkin’s last performance against Rolls reaffirms me that that is the case.

Jermall has a better resume than Sissy-g, Sissy-g lost to Jacobs & Nelo twice the ONLY good names he fought & LOST to. Jermall has wins over Trout & JRock. Now stop ignoring what Jermall told Jacobs when Jacobs changed the subject to "M's" Jacobs also extended his hand out to Jermall. I want to address this “prime GGG” that Canelo supposedly ducked. The earliest reasonable date that Canelo could have fought GGG was May 2016, after he won the WBC 160 from Cotto. GGG was 34 at that time. When Canelo fought GGG in Sept 2017, GGG was 35. You’re telling me he went from in his prime to out of his prime in that timeframe?
