The HBO-Showtime rivalry is what made great fights

HBO and Showtime are two entertainment companies that were competing to put on the best show. Those shows had to feature the best fighters against the best fighters, and if not that, a dramatic matchup at the very least based on rivalries, styles, etc.

Now we have sports channels mostly in charge and the focus of the competition seems to be on who has the biggest stars and the best stars, not who has the best fights.

Haymon killed HBO taking all the fighters. He's doing the same with Showtime right now, giving them garbage cards.

True. And then ironically, Showtime Boxing died soon after.

Showtime is basically 'The Deontay Wilder Show' at this point. Without him, they're an afterthought.

HBO seen PBC take most of the American and Latino fighters and tried to make a push for white America by tryi mg to promote eastern europeans. Their downfall actually started before that when they ran off Floyd.

Sho might've had a good run for a few years but HBO was head and shoulders better than sho for decades.
