PPV at 147 should be reserved for one fight.
That fight is Spence-Crawford. Everything else is a robbery.
Putting Spence-Garcia on PPV was a joke. Garcia was way too small and should have proven himself at welterweight first. Putting Crawford-Khan on PPV was an even bigger joke. Khan is completely shot. Pacquiao-Broner on PPV was a complete joke. Broner is completely shot. If Spence-Porter is on PPV, it’s a joke. Porter is a paper champion and would be a gatekeeper if we weren’t in a four-belt era.
Pacquiao-Thurman is also not PPV worthy.
Pacquiao is old and a shell of his former self. Every fight he’s had in the last two years has been carefully selected.
Even though he was probably robbed against Horn, that’s a fighter with 17 career fights that took him the distance and made it close enough to win a decision. Look what Crawford did to Horn by comparison.
Matthysse was the smaller man against Pacquiao and was completely shot. He’s also made for Pacquiao even if he was in his prime, but he was far from that. He was losing to Kiram before he scored a knockout, a complete no name guy. His only other fight at welterweight was against a journeyman super lightweight.
Adrien Broner is also completely shot. He’s was the biggest name, easiest fight Pacquiao could find. You could argue that he’s lost every fight he’s had the last three years. PBC just knew that people are too dumb to know that, so it went on PPV.
Keith Thurman looked so bad in his last fight that I think any real top 10 welterweight probably would have knocked him cold.
I hope you all enjoy paying $80 to watch two welterweights who are probably ranked in the bottom half of the top 10 in the division fight each other. This fight is being so overhyped and is only compelling because we don’t know who sucks more than the other guy. I will be looking to go the theater/bar route for this one and anything at welterweight that doesn’t involve Spence-Crawford.
