Comments Thread For: Bellew: Joshua Knows His Career is at Stake in Ruiz Rematch

Tony Bellew believes the fear factor should propel Anthony Joshua to victory over Andy Ruiz Jr in their hoped-for heavyweight rematch later this year as he will know his career is on the line. Joshua suffered one of boxing's greatest upsets in losing his WBA, IBF, IBO and WBO belts to Ruiz at New York's Madison Square Garden on June 1.

Joshua went far enough in his career, he is a overachiever. No regrets for the kid.

All this talk of Ruiz being a better fundamental boxer than AJ is horse sh/t, AJ has continually displayed elite boxing ability, I just think he didn't respect his opponent after hurting him, and the punch he got caught with gave him a concussion.

Ruiz could get crushed in the rematch if AJ is right

Yeah. I mean he made tons. He never even had to leave UK to get all the straps. Got destroyed first time he did. I never thought he was a natural, but I thought he was getting better. He never fought tall, and he could get hit. He did drop Ruiz and rushing in after it went sideways. If Ruiz tries and isn’t 290lbs I’ll give AJ all the credit if he wins convincingly. But at this point I think he’s made more on popularity and being a big deal in England with a good personality than overall ability. If he hurts Ruiz I’ll be really impressed if he tries to finish him.

I hope they announce the rematch soon . I don't even care who wins I just know it's gonna be a good fight that probably won't go 12

AJs career is done and exposed as soon as he tried to fight in America. Lol

Getting over his ( Joshua ) fear of being countered is a difficult obstacle, and a hindrance from first bell ; especially if Joshua starts getting touched early on. Its a great moral victory and no doubt top of his wins if A.J beats Ruiz -- then again this also depends on the venue, one would have to question if hometown support played a factor to assist Joshua with the win.

Joshua would have to play it safe and box to win, as Terry Norris did in his rematch back in the day with Simon Brown.
