The only way this fight happens is in the UFC.

The Mayweather and McGregor boxing match at 154 was possible because Mayweather primarily fought at 147, but was a champ at 154 too. While McGregor had fought at 145, 155, and 170, but had primarily fought at 155. McGregor was 29, bigger and active, while Floyd was 40 and retired for 2 years. Both had to make concessions, but both fighters were happy with the terms.

Nunes and Shields would both have to make more concessions than either Mayweather or McGregor. Nunes is an MMA fighter who fights primarily at 135, but moved to 145 last year. Shields fights at 160 and 168. Nunes is 31 and Shields is 24.

Shields couldn't cut to 145 in a possible boxing match up, and certainly not in a MMA match up. So Shields wants an older, more battle worn athlete, to come to her sport and fight at a weight limit that's 15 pounds above where she's currently fighting?

If the UFC eventually gives the women a 155 division, Nunes would likely become a 3 division champ. Meanwhile, if Shields continues to win at 160 and 168, interest in a cross over fight could grow.

Shields should start training in MMA on the side now, then in 3 or 4 years, if both are still at the top of their respective sports, there could be a gimmicky super fight between Nunes and Shields for the inaugural UFC women's 170 division belt.

      Size difference too big.

      Nunes would get wrecked.

Idk. That's alot different. Wilder hits so hard that he has a chance in any kind of fight

There aren't any unless she loses a lot more weight. The only realllllly compelling fight already is at 147.

She's too good for her own good & female boxing has no depth. She's going to have a boring ho hum boxing career or she can cash out by doing some novelty sh^t here & there. Fight MMA girls in the ring or the cage. Fight men. Something novelty-ish like that.
I agree 100% here my borther.

But fighting a MMA girl in the ring, from a much lighter weight is meh.

To an extent, how do you like Khabib vs the nail/Kovalev in a boxing ring, that would be meh, useless, fraudulent.

The nail/Kova vs COrmier or Jon Jones in a boxing ring, hell we got a fight.
          You got me intrigued.

I love and respect too much fighting sports to make such farces.

All I mean is call out a mma girl at least your size, or bigger, so there is a match.

Nunes would break her, she fought Cyborg who walks around at 175 and roided to the ****. Shields would get that jaw smashed.

The size difference is to big for a boxing match.

But in a MMA fight, I give Nunes the edge. Both are 5'8" and Nunes has a one inch reach advantage, throw in Nunes' kicking and wrestling, and I think Nunes stops Shields in the cage.

But if it was in boxing, I agree Nunes gets wrecked.

Which is why I think it's ****** for Shields to even bring up the idea of her versus Nunes in boxing. If Shields wanted a MMA fight, saying her size & boxing skills would overcome her lack of MMA & wrestling skills, then we have a conversation.

I was surprised at how she demolished Cyborg as soon as she started landing, and the size differential was massive. Shields and Cyborg sparred before that fight too, I wonder who was getting the upper hand.

Shields trying to get her name out there by mentioning Nunes. Yes, Shields would easily outbox Nunes. But if both fought in the cage or on the street. Nunes would DESTROY Shields.
