Well at least that makes more sense than what WBC Guy is doing.

Respect to the Colonel. Long live the potato bowl.

WBC website explaining the Diamond belt :

“The WBC Diamond Championship has been created as an honorary championship for the winner of a historic fight between two elite boxers"
When WBA first created that title they said the SUPER champ would have to fight the regular champ to consolidate and have 1 single champ. The WBA has since moved on and doesn't mandate it. The WBC has already created precedent of WBC Diamond belt being used to establish a higher status champ then the regular WBC champ see Jorge Linares. Them stating the man who beats canelo has to fight the WBC regular champ is them trying to clean up and create 1 single champ if canelo gets beat exactly what the WBA said they would do. What the WBC actually does who knows but Canelo was elevated above Charlo and is the higher champ making Charlo the secondary champ. Not a single person is even recognizing Charlo as the real champ. Canelo is the lineal WBC champ until he is beat and the WBC will put his lineal status on the line with the WBC Diamond belt which can be lost and transferred. He keeps the ****** Franchise Status that can't be transferred win or lose but the WBC Diamond belt can and when that happens the 2 WBC champs will be mandated to fight to create 1 single champion going forward.

You can hate this rule all you want but the WBC are allowing for lineage to change hands and are even allowing for unifications just like they did when Linares lost his WBC belt when he was injured but gained WBC Diamond champion and even though Dejan won the vacant WBC regular belt they acknowledged Linares the true champ as did fans and promoted him fighting Crolla as a unification something they don't do with commerative belts.

        They did some new sh^t.

Canelo has a belt he can't lose. Opponents can't win it. And if you beat Canelo you become mando for Charlo.

It sounds like they made Charlo the super champion more than vice versa despite them giving Canelo a new fancy named title.
The Franchise status isn't a belt. There is NO Franchise belt. Franchise status means he is a champion above all that isn't required to fight mandatories. But when he fights the WBC Diamond belt is the actual belt he has and will defend. That's the belt and that can be lost and transferred. It's not that confusing. He can keep the franchise status win or lose but whoever beats him will win the WBC Diamond belt, becomes the lineal WBC champ and if the WBC does what they say they will then they order both the WBC Diamond and WBC Regular champs to fight and you are back to 1 champ under the WBC.

If Canelo losses he still remains the WBC Franchise Champion

          4. The Franchise Champion will proudly represent the WBC in every single fight as a reigning WBC champion. This is regardless of any specific conditions or titles being associated with all future fights.

His future opponents may or may not fight for the Diamond belt

          7. The WBC may award a Diamond Championship belt in those fights in which the Franchise Champion engages. If the Franchise Champion loses, the winner will receive the Diamond belt and may be considered as mandatory contender of the division.

So how exactly would the lineal change? Win or lose you are the franchise champ if Canelo fights at 168 he is still the franchise champion and the Diamond belt maybe on the line for the winner to fight the WBC belt holders at 168 or 175

IF callum Smith beats Canelo at 168 and gets the Diamond belt is he the real WBC SMW champion?

The Diamond Belt may or may not be on the line is wording for the WBC not wanting to box themselves in. For example if Canelo fights at 168 or some catchweight the WBC probably doesn't want to put the Diamond belt on the line but if he fights at 160 for certain they will be making that belt up for grabs and front and center. If he loses lineage at 160 will change hands and the winnner will be the 160 WBC Diamond Champion and they will mandate the WBC Diamond and WBC Regular champ to fight. The Franchise status Canelo keeps that but when he fights at 160 whoever beats him becomes lineal WBC champ and wins the WBC Diamond belt. If Canelo loses at some other weight nothing is changing hands. Hence they added that wording as wiggle room to not include the WBC Diamond belt when he fights to cover their bases if he fights at 168 or 175.

You already know Canelo v Kovalev the WBC Diamond belt will be there front and center

What you are saying is wishful thinking from your part the WBC could've easily named Canelo the 160 Diamond belt champ if that was the case and they would officially make Diamond belt the highest champ instead of just "honorary belt" like it says in their official website

The WBC specifically said Canelo will represent them regardless of weight class or results of the fights so basically he is ambassador not the real champ

In that way this title seems like it even works against the WBC & all the other belts.
I totally agree. They have devalued their own title with this action.

How is Canelo cool with this??? WBC Guy just cut off his balls.
He’s cool with it because he’s WBC champ but will never have another mandatory. If someone beats Canelo they don’t win the WBC Belt, they just become mandatory to the wbc champ.

It’s BS, but the world sucks off Canelo.

When Canelo fights he defends the WBC Diamond belt (which the WBC established with Linares to be the higher champ and even recognized it for unifications) if he loses they mandate the winner to fight the WBC Regular champ to re-establish 1 single champion. Which is exactly what the WBA said when they created the super Champ status. When the WBA super champ lost they were supposed to fight the WBA regular champ to eliminate 2 belts in the same division the WBA has since ignored this and in most weights continue having 2 champs in 1 weight class. But until canelo loses he is the true WBC champ while Charlo is the secondary champ aka the WBA "Regular" champ nobody considers the real champ.
I totally get that in the real world, Canelo is champ until he's beaten. but I wasn't aware that the Diamond title could be unified, I thought it was an honorary award. Thanks for the info.
