Even if Joshua beats up Andy to a pulp in the UK, I won't be fully sold on him 'being back'.

He was being praised as one of the 'great heavies'. If you have a rep like that you have to get out of your comfort zone once in a while, especially when it's the worst possible time to do so.

Unless Team Joshua were terrible with their contract clauses then nothing changes in terms of who the A-side is, the fight would happen at a location and date stipulated by Team Joshua who have been very respectful to Team Ruiz.
I think the risk from the Joshua-side is that Ruiz could buy himself out of any breach of contract fine now he has big money backers in Mexico.

I still want to see if Ruiz lets Joshua hold the belts at their face off. Maybe he will just hand him his Snickers...

I still think that was one of the strangest things I've ever seen a fighter do at a press conference.

Joshua is a strange guy, talking to a lady friend of his right now. This lady’s mate went to school with Joshua in Nigeria (Ibadan), and she’s telling me Joshua is in Nigeria right now. And how Joshua was happy to lose because the pressure was too much for him. And Joshua never wanted this level of fame. Joshua kinda forgot his roots, didn’t big “up” all the Nigerian advert that he did or retweet them, even though he retweet the British ones that he did. That some Nigerian people were cursing out at him for not coming to Nigeria with his belts, but now that he lost he wants to hide out in Nigeria.

Letting someone hold your belts might be a nice PR thing to do but I don’t get why to be honest.

I like you Ray, but I typically don't believe "a friend of a friend of mine said" stories. But I put some stock in what you're saying. Not sure I buy him being happy or relieved, but the rest does make sense. Everyone always wants to run home when they lick their wounds.

And is letting someone pose with your belts even good PR? Any boxing mind would be asking WTF he was doing.

I know lol, i usually don’t believe those stories too. I actually wanted to record this lady when she was talking to me about Joshua but I felt other wise. I thought she was a casual until she mentioned Fury and Wilder too. Then I sat up, she mentioned the school that her friend was in Nigeria with Joshua (Ibadan) where one of their classmate died due to typhoid fever, which made all the parent running to pick them back up from the boarding school and some of them returning back to the UK. She mentioned how Joshua’s father was never there for him and his immediate sister. She knows everything about Joshua, I was totally shocked, this lady herself is Nigerian by the way. Things that I didn’t even know about Joshua she mentioned today to me. She said Joshua only wanted to make enough money to help his family, that he wasn’t really into the mega star that he became, how Joshua isn’t a fighting man etc I wish I recorded her

Probably a good thing you didn't record it. At least for Joshua's sake. If true, the less people that know the better.

Not to mention Ruiz got paid way more than he was worth in the first fight around 5-7m. He was fighting in half-empty arenas before he got a taste of the Joshua B-Side money.
Well at that moment Ruiz by definition was worth 5-7mil or whatever he made cause he got it. But yeah the term “worth” can be looked at so many ways. Buster Douglas made 30m v Holy way back then. You’re right with everything u said in ur last post. But it’s just tough for a guy who blows the $$$ Champ away having to be so thankful for even getting a chance. They couldn’t make the fight vs Wilder, which woulda made a career high for each fighter. But it’s not like people used the “career high” pay day pressure on AJ. It’s a business. It’s contracts. But AJ is more popular than he is good. Being born in England is his greatest asset. Turns out it prolly woulda been worth it to fight Wilder?! But Ruiz is gonna earn way less than he could have if there was no rematch contract. So in a way he gets carpet bagged. He’d prolly would have agreed to terms pre first fight on a third fight even if he would have won twice so I get it. I know there’s so many organizations but I wish there was sum guaranteed stroke to protect a surprise champ in this position. Something to protect the prestige of being the champ and winning and boxing itself. Not just A-side calling the shots. What’s the point of being the champ if it’s not worth anything against a guy u just blew away? U can brag about being the best until u get smoked then u brag about making the most money?
