Was this our generations four kings?

I was born just after the conclusion of the four kings era. Undoubtedly one of boxing greatest eras. But between 2000-2012 I believe we experienced something comparable. I’m not necessarily comparing them in terms of talent, I’m comparing the number of high quality fights they had.

Manny Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales had 13 fights against one another, spanning from Super Bantamweight to Welterweight and some of which were absolute classics. All four men had extensive and meaningful careers, winning multiple titles across multiple divisions and fought/beat numerous elite level fighters. The only two that never fought were Marquez and Morales (really wish it happened.) There were also some incredible rivalries such as Pacquiao-Marquez and Barrera-Morales etc. This is best era of boxing since the four kings IMO. Thoughts?

Morales was at the tail end of his career he was basically a stepping stone at that point after losing to MAB twice

JMM v Pacquiao was a throwback rivalry though

He still managed to get that first W over Pacquiao though. I only felt he looked clearly past his prime in the third Pacquiao fight. Crazy to think he managed to win another world title five years later.

Marquez didn't do a whole lot (resume wise) outside of Pac. Gotta stand on your own to be a real king. He would be a horseman among those 4 though.

Pacquiao is the only one he managed to beat he was basically losing to everyone he was fed to at that point I think he lost 5 out of 6 or something like that

I don’t think anything comes close to those 4 and this past era “four kings” buddy. Marquez Barrera Morales Pacquiao was it.

Promotional differences will prevent this eras could of been 4 kings. Spence - Crawford - Thurman anddddddddddd Garcia or Pac or Porter? You need Bud in there

I thought his lightweight run was very impressive. His wins over Casamayor and Diaz are underrated IMO.

Yeah he lost four in a row after the Pacquiao win going 1-5 in his last 6. I thought he was done after the third Pacquiao fight, he was competitive against Diaz in his next fight but I was pretty relieved he retired/semi-retired. It’s actually amazing he was able to comeback years later and compete with young guys like Maidana and DSG, I was so happy for him when he picked up his 4th divisional title on the Mayweather-Ortiz undercard, I remember staying up for that card and the Morales fight was the one I was most excited for.
