Comments Thread For: Fortune: Thurman Won't Go Toe To Toe - He'll Run From Pacquiao

Justin Fortune, the strength and conditioning coach of eight division champion Manny Pacquiao, does not expect Keith Thurman to back up his big pre-fight talk. Thurman has boasted of going after Pacquiao, knocking him around with shots and retiring him from the sport.

Regardless of his age Pacquiao comes to fight. Thurman looked like a pile of 💩 and Lopez. This is going to be a great fight to watch.🥊

Thurman does run when he gets hit or when he wants to burn out the clock. Manny really has to get his respect. If he doesn't shut down Keith's output by putting some fear into him, he's going to have a hard time dealing with the range and the aggression.

Manny's opponents over the years had strategy pretty much out the window once in the ring. Morales, Cotto and Hatton to name a few. It will be interesting if Thurman will "hold his ground" as part of his strategy. It will be an exciting fight to watch that will not go to distance.

Now why in the hell will Thurman nullify his talents of boxing, stick & move, using the gift of youth in his legs to stand toe to toe (giving pac his only tool at this point)???

Pacquiao's opponents have always talked a big game until they got hit. Once they get hit by Manny they start backing off. I can see Thurman taking the same route. Heck, he did it against Lopez, won't he do it against Pacquiao? I like Thurman and I hope he backs up his talk. That way we'll have a helluva fight.

It's crazy and you gotta admit. Manny is still the biggest name in boxing.

                  This!

But if Thurman chooses to stand and trade he still will have the upper hand, even though Manny is an incredibly special fighter....he's not what he used to be. Thurman would be well advised to take Manny deep into the fight and then get aggressive. Manny is always dangerous though.

Why should he? Thurman is the bigger guy who's stronger, has the reach, & is pretty good at countering guys who comes straight forward like Manny! So why should he stand stationary and go toe to toe with Manny? He will frustrate Manny with his movement and watch Manny get a little sloppy and wild with his punches.
