All it takes is one punch and Kovalev has seen better days. Is Yarde another hypejob? The brits have some excellent lighter weight guys but they always seem to overrate their bigger guys. Callum Smith does looks like a beast at 168. Time will tell with Yarde but Kovalev is a huge step up!

There is definitely a lot of hype with Yarde, but sh^t man I'm not confident that Kovalev can beat a hypejob these days is the thing. I think if you hurt him, & Yarde has the power to do that regardless if he's a hypejob, you can take the fight right outta him & its all over more or less.

Again still favor Kovalev, but this feels like a 60/40 fight that'll likely look like a 90/10 fight towards whoever wins when its all over.

I guarantee we will not see any talk about fighting Yarde from Canelo.

Why would he? Kovalev is a name. Yarde, even post-a Kovalev win isn't. The upside in beating Kovalev isn't just a 4th belt for Canelo its in beating a name guy people know. No one knows Yarde like that.

Yarde has zero actual opposition on his record, a almost non existant amateur career with only 12 amateur bouts... he simply isnt got the experience to make any form of adjustments during a fight if and when needed. Kovalev is a monster puncher, fighters almost never lose that and in his last fight he outboxed alvarez to a T. Kov would have to be a total washed aged fighter to lose to Yarde.. whos power isnt proven at world level as he hasnt boxed anyone.

I have watched a few of Yarde's fight. He looks like an animal but who has he beaten? The fact that Kovalev is past his prime makes this an intriguing fight. A lot of questions including Yarde's ability to take a shot. If he can it may be lights out for the russian. I wouldn't bet this fight. Too many unknowns!

Yarde is going to stop Kovalev and end his career and I guarantee we will not see any talk about fighting Yarde from Canelo.

Yarde is too young and strong for a Canelo challenge. Kovalev was the only light heavy offered the fight for a reason. OLD! Canelo would not want Bivol, Gvozdyk, or Beterbiev and why would he? It's not that he is afraid but why risk it? Canelo has plent of options at 160 and 168. Leave the much bigger guys alone!

Yarde only had 12 amateur fights. I'm British and I'm not convinced he has the full package to hang at world level. If Kovalev beat Alvarez, I would heavily favour him to beat Yarde.

Yeah agree with all of that. There is no one Yarde has beat to show he can win at world level.

I agree that it should be GGG III or either Charlo or Andrade. Mungia would be a sacrificial lamb. As for Kovalev/Yarde? Huge step up for the brit!

It does seem like Yarde is being rushed. A Sullivan Barrera would be a logical next opponent.
