People need to realise sparring isn't the same as a proper boxing match. You're unlikely to be in peak condition physically, most importantly mentally it's completely different. In your mind you know you can't get an L on your record through sparring, you know you don't lose any points/rounds if you go down, you know you don't have to go all out to win the sparring sessions. Your just there working on a few things, getting your conditioning up to speed and getting mentally prepared.

Also, some guys are very serious when it comes to spars, and others are much more casual. Nobody cares about a boxers sparring "record" it's what they do on fight night. It's like a story from premier league football (soccer) years ago mid/late nineties. Arsenal had this winger called Mendes, he was there for a couple of years I think, had very little impact and didn't have much of a career, but the majority of the Arsenal squad said that in almost every training session he was their best player. But he couldn't do it out there on the pitch when it mattered. Same thing.
