Unless the Canelo side accuses the Kovalev side of ducking, it really doesn't matter if it's a low ball or not. Let them negotiate in private. Whatever Jacobs made, I'm sure he didn't accept the opening offer. Kovalev has taken a lot of recent losses. Canelo is moving up two weight classes. There's no way Kovalev is going to get anywhere near what Jacobs got.

Kovalev is with a weak promoter and doesn't have many prospects for a big fight. If his side can wind up with a 7.5 million or 8 million dollar package, they should be thanking their lucky stars.
