Comments Thread For: Roach 'Worried About' Beltran; Wants Him To Consider Retiring

HOUSTON Freddie Roach wants Ray Beltran to take some before they'll decide whether he should continue fighting. Beltran's trainer didn't like much of what he witnessed from the former WBO lightweight champion's corner Friday night, when Richard Commey knocked him out in the eighth round of a fight ESPN televised. Commey knocked down Beltran four times before referee Eddie Hernandez Sr. stopped their scheduled 12-rounder at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California.

Freddie is absolutely right. He knows something about taking too many shots.

seriously freddie!!! if you're actually gonna tell one of your fighters to retired then ray beltran would be the perfect candidate here! i have nothing against beltran but if you wanna stay in the game, you gotta at least win and not take so much damage. i dont mind if an old fading fighters sticks around to fight b-c-d level guys IF he is still beating them.

my goodness!! i bet freddie was trying to make beltran spar pacquiao too! lol. good thing buboy is running the show now.

“He was fine,” Roach said. “He was boxing well, and he had good sparring partners. Him and Manny Pacquiao were actually in the gym together.”
