I don't blame him... If Alvarez could flatten him 3 times, one would wonder if he would get out from that fight on his feet...

Didn't he get offered the kova fight a few years back and decided to turn in down? Beterbiev hits like a tank,but he's been put down more than once by far lesser fighters. A measured kovalev boxes him from the outside,and stops him in rounds 7-9.

IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev has dared his amateur rival, WBO world champion Sergey Kovalev, to fight him in a unification bout. Beterbiev has two amateur victories over Kovalev, from when they collided in tournament back in Russia. Kovalev has long claimed that he was robbed on the cards when they met in the unpaid ranks.

Why did Beterbiev turn down the fight vs Kovalev for the Russia homecoming before Ward, though? The one where Kovalev ended up fighting Chilemba because Beterbiev's side turned it down? What really happened with that? I'm sincerely asking because there's been a lot of conflicting things said by different people involved, although only Beterbiev's side contradicts each other's stories, not Kovalev's.

Yep. Beterbiev can't mysteriously 'forget' when he turned down Kov, and at the same time make it sound like Kov is the ducker. And isn't the timing 'perfect'? Canelo is looking to possibly fight Kov, huge money fight for Krusher, and Beterbiev 'conveniently' chooses now to make his comments.

Don't get me wrong, I too would luv this fight to happen. IMO it's a great matchup... that Kov would likely win via UD or late stoppage. He showed a great degree of boxing skill in the Alvarez rematch with new trainer McGirt. Maybe he won't pull a Chad Dawson, and will instead LISTEN to his trainer FNO. Because that's the only way he finishes his career with no more losses.
