I always think a guy in as big of a position as Canelo is in today & like Floyd was in the past only has 5 or so legit options at his weight & maybe 3 max outside his weight divison. Thats why I was so surprised with Floyd's last legit fight vs Berto cuz Berto wasn't on my top 5 list.

    But to the point.

    Canelo's top 5 160lb fights:

GGG....still cuz these fights have been so close & disputed.
Mall...has been a legit looking mfer despite some ho hum last couple fights.
Andrade...underwhelmed by Andrade, but he gots a belt & is undefeated.
Derevyanchenko...one disputed L to Jacobs, but otherwise a fairly imposing force at 160
Lemieux...kinda by default I gotta throw in David cuz he does just enough to stay relevant...& this is assuming he can even make 160

    For outside 160 options:

Spence...lil early for this one, but I believe this has huge potential in a couple years & right now if it popped off early
    Callum...for that #1 spot at 168
Kovalev...ripest guy at 175 for Canelo to get a 4th weight division title, I think all the rest of the 175 guys would be too much risk for too lil reward...Kov has a bigger name at 175 & is past prime.

Well it was before. When I made this thread I still didn't really know what the franchise champion actually was tbh....

I still don't know really. I know Charlo is not the Mando anymore, but he can't become undisputed anymore?

Im Canadian and I know Lemieux doesn’t deserve a shot. He has great power but maybe sum of the worst feet I’ve ever seen. U cant have it all of course. GGG walked him down and made it look like he was on rollerskates. I’d still like to see Canelo fight him, and maybe even have to take a hard shot or two. Nelos defence has improved that maybe he doesn’t even touch him. The long hair that David wore against ggg just showed off every landed punch to his face. I wish we coulda made him better. But he is fun to watch. Doubt he can come close to making 160 now though.

I just think he's still sellable & you could argue he deserves a bigger fight (even if he's effed up his own sh^t with weight bs).

I'd love to be a more fun guy in the top 5, but I'm not seeing a guy worth a damn. I guess I coulda just put a random #1 ABC guy in the last spot, but those fights are never very sellable & rarely seem worth much of a damn in general.
