C'mon you should know better than that, don't be so naive. A lot of times just being a mandatory is not enough. It takes the fighter, his management, and promoter to put and keep the pressure on the sanctioning bodies to honor their obligations to the #1 ranked contender. There have been fighters that have taken the sanctioning bodies to court in order to force them to honor their own rules regarding mandatories. If the fighter and his team does not do so then the sanctioning bodies will be more than happy keeping the status quo.

Charlo instead would rather have the WBC award him a title that he did not try and win in the ring and he seems perfectly ok with it.

Then "mandatory" doesn't mean what I think it does, and sanctioning bodies don't disregard their own rules like I thought they did. It wasn't naivete that caused me to reply in the manner I did, more than it was me expecting other people to bash the sanctioning bodies, and not the guy who worked himself to the mandatory position. Then again, I guess that was naive.
