Golden Boy Promotions President Eric Gomez, who promotes Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, says his boxer will not be pressured to face Gennady Golovkin or any other fighter. He states that Canelo calls the shots - and he will do a Golovkin trilogy when he feels the time is right. Canelo and Golovkin has both signed exclusive multi-fight deals with streaming service DAZN.

That Joshua loss absolutely helps Canelo's negotiating powers imo...not sure how much flexibility he really has but whatever happens next for him and GGG will be interesting for sure

The smart money says that he's waiting on the results of the Andrade fight this weekend. You know he wants that unification.

GGG needs to build himself up again after Canelo took that 0 and his titles.
Canelo is looking to enhance his legacy and chase new challenges. Holding all the major belts at one time at MW or move up to take on bigger fish is what he has his sights on.
His last two years have been about GGG, he has nothing to prove against him.
If GGG really wanted to push for the fight he could have fought Andrade to pick up that belt. He decided to fight bum ass Rolls instead.

Been saying this for weeks, GGG has zero leverage in this situation, and the allure of a high PPV buy rate is gone per DAZN's business model.

Canelo should go after the winner of the fight this weekend, and force GGG to fight a legit opponent.

Based on what Gomez is saying, it appears DAZN does not have the contractual right to force the fight, and they can't cite the amount of money they have invested in both fighters, they made their bed, that's not Canelo's problem.
