Its a Motor City Meltdown. He thinks he is defending America from a foreign invader. Hes gone over the cliff. Mad man.

Cutting cords, cable cutting, whatever you want to call it. That was cool a few years ago when cable companies weren't concerned. Now that they are, guess what the easy fix to that is? INCREASE INTERNET PRICE.
When I first cut cable in 2012, I paid 30 bucks for basic speed internet (not the lowest speed). I'm now up to 55 with a promotion (70 without), and that was after many yearly incremental increases with the occasional year I could convince them to keep the same rate.
Do you think I want to even pay 55 + another 20 for a single app that is content focused (I would only watch boxing on DAZN), +another whatever for additional apps such as Netflix or Hulu? If I want all the boxing apps such as ESPN+, DAZN, and I think there is a pay version of the Showtime app to watch the fights, I might as well get back to cable packages at that point. I'd be looking at easily over 100. Either way the consumer gets *****ed. It's just getting out of control.Comment

I'll take the over on them being done with US boxing by 2021.
If they leave boxing it won't be til the Canelo deal is over at the EARLIEST which I think is 2024. And I suspect the real earliest they'd quit boxing is closer to that 8 year Eddie deal period (2026?).
I tend to suspect there will still be value in being the new HBO of boxing so I'd lean towards they won't be getting rid of boxing as long as they are in business & I suspect worse case they got ten years to go before they go busto or get bought out by a bigger streaming ent^ty.Comment

The matchroom UK and matchroom Italy cards are not really big cards, some bad, some evenly matched, but lack top fighters.DAZN been hit or miss, only thing saving them was the Joshua upset to at least give the stream app some publicity.
So many bad cards though and they are over paying fighters for not having even producing. Guys like Farmer and Andrade are fighters who they need to stop showing them beat up on domestic level fighters.
I honestly feel Hearn signs fighters just for him to not match them with his cash cows. Canelo-Andrade and Andrade-GGG should of happened already
The US cards are on average better than average / good in my opinion.
Good:
- Hooker Vs Ramirez + Gassiev and Farmer mandatory defense
- Cancio Vs Machado II, Acosta big upset
- Andrade Vs Sulecki, bad undercard, at least yafai title fight
- Joshua Vs Ruiz (because of the upset)
- Alvarez Vs Jacobs
- WBSS Prograis Vs Relikh + Donaire Vs replacement
- WBSS Taylor Vs Baranchyk + Inoue Vs Rodriguez
- Rungvisai Vs Estrada II, Roman Vs Doheny + Vargas
- Machado Vs Cancio I + Rey Vargas
average:
- Bivol Vs Smith + Hooker Vs LesPierre
- Munguia Vs Inoue + Rojas Vs Xu
Weak:
- Haney Vs Moran + Hrgovic (Usyk injured though)
- Munguia Vs Hogan
- Farmer Vs Carroll + Sulecki Vs Rosado
- Andrade Vs Akavov + Linares Vs Cano
So not sure where the criticism is coming from. PBC and DAZN offer the same level of fights. Top rank comes in last. And if you are looking at the level of fights currently compared to when they launched, dazn has improved a lot.
Many of the new signings get an easy touch for their first fight on the platform (GGG, Parker, Hrgovic, Haney), but I expect them to face much better opposition in their second outing.Comment

They weren't even launched in the U.S last May. But that goes to show what I've been telling these UKasuals. The US is what matters."The top grossing sports app worldwide for May 2019 was DAZN with close to $11.5 million in user spending, which represented 9.5x growth from May 2018."

The Canelo app. If Canelo ain't fighting nobody is watching. They didn't reach the hundreds of thousands in subs until Canelo's first fight in September. The churn rate was so high after that fight they cancelled free subs & raised the price. Nobody watched from November until this past May. They were predicting to be at 1 mil US subs with the GGG fight but they didn't get it.
That's why I say Skipper DKSAB. He thought 97k would bring subscribers. GGG is nothing without Canelo.Comment

Eddie's deal is only guaranteed for 3 years. And they may have an out clause on that because I haven't seen him sign a fighter to any deal longer than 3-4 fights.I'll take the over on them being done with US boxing by 2021.
If they leave boxing it won't be til the Canelo deal is over at the EARLIEST which I think is 2024. And I suspect the real earliest they'd quit boxing is closer to that 8 year Eddie deal period (2026?).

At some point it becomes cheaper to buy out Canelo's contract than it does to continue streaming his fights.Comment
