The rules are different. The biggest difference, imo, is that they allow for clinch work.

If Malignaggi can keep distance, he should win easily. If he cant avoid and get out of clinches, he may well lose.

Its a bad look but this is more of a middleground vs a fight like Floyd vs McConor which woulda been a huge L for boxing if Floyd lost.

Then again maybe it could even be a good thing for boxing & mma fan relations cuz after the whole McConor/Paulie sh^t a lot of boxing & mma fans are on the same page with disliking Paulie so this could be the beginning of some brotherhood among a large segment of combat sport fans who are equallly celebrating a Paulie L.

And the previous fights were too onesided. A boxer in the cage is gonna have problems. A mma guy in the ring is gonna have problems. This is a hybrid type of fight where you could argue its more fair to both sides so whoever loses is gonna be looking kinda like a dumbass to the fans & peers in their main sport.
