Breazeale was supposed to fight Stiverne with Stiverne's mandatory status on the line. Ortiz got nixed, Stiverne moved into his spot, leaving Breazeale with the right to fight the highest available fighter, which ended up being Molina.
Whye was supposed to fight Breazeale with Breazeale's mandatory status on the line. Fury got nixed, Breazeale moved into his spot, leaving Whyte with the right to fight the highest available fighter.
Except he didn't. He chose Rivas, even though there were fighters rated higher than Rivas willing to fight him. That's the difference. You don't get to choose who you fight in your final eliminator. You're supposed to fight the highest rated guy willing to fight you. Whyte for whatever reason refuses to do that and that's why he's never become the mandatory.

These guys are the worse fans that I have ever come across, not even fanboys of Pacman, Cotto etc would defend a corrupt organisation like the WBC over an boxer.... This lot would doe.

Originally posted by DARTH SILKWORMS View PostThat's incorrect. The #1 contender is supposed to lose their rating if they refuse to fight a final eliminator. It's only because Hearn has so much clout that Whyte has been able to keep his rating while refusing to fight a final eliminator.
