chico's power could prove to much for diaz, but don't forget diaz takes alot on the gloves and his attack isn't always straight forward

diaz will do better if he moves, utilizes hand speed, and keeps turning corrales. chico usually needs to be set to punch. when you get him off of his rythm he stands straight up backs up a step or two, seems to roll his head side to side as if cracking his neck, and then resets.

diaz can capitalize on this if he turns chico then attacks.

as previously mentioned chico's power is heavy and diaz has been dropped before. diaz squares his shoulders up and a phonebook fight could be a bit much for him considering chico's power is more than anything he has ever faced. however, diaz's chin has seemingly gotten better. he walked right thru sim's best shots and took a few from cotto.

also diaz may be suceptible to to chico's left hook when he doubles up left hooks to the body then comes back up top for a left to the head.

diaz's handspeed is far superior to that of corrales which could neutralize some of chico's power in close if juan stays busy as most expect him to do. that handspeed and non-stop attack could prove to much for chico who has been thru many wars.

if diaz wins its by ud
if chico wins its a ko

imo i think chico possibly puts diaz on the canvas early. hopefully diaz will recover because i think he takes this by decision. he'll confuse chico, set traps, turn him, and have him resetting constantly.

      Ehmmmmmmmm..

I'm going w/ Diaz by close decision...

If Diaz's defence is as good as it looks, then he has a chance

Corrales will fight Diaz's fight( Phone booth style), he did it for Castillo, so he'll defintely try to do it w/ Diaz..

I dunno...Diaz can't knock Corrales out..just not enough raw power...but he's very accurate, and solid as hell on the inside...

      I'd love to see it.

I think this would be a good fight that I think Diaz could win. Granted he doesn't have the power, but he has everything else, and I think he is the bigger stronger guy. Diego is taller and has good power, but I think Juan could wear him down with his combination punching and not to mention Diaz has a pretty good defense keeping his hands up at all times,he has a good stiff jab,and a very good body attack. He also seems to have a pretty good chin. He is also a very accurate puncher. The only thing he lacks is the power, but you don't have to be outstanding power to win. Mayweather is a prime example of that, and before everyone starts piling on I am not comparing Diaz to Mayweather, but I think he is a young and hungry and has a lot of potential to be very good. As long as he doesn't fall asleep and get caught, I think he has a good chance of winning this fight. I also think the wars with Corrales have taken a lot out of him.

Good post. Good points. Maybe Frietas would be the better fight first, but I would love to see either fight. I think Diaz could beat Frietas, and I think if he fights smart he could beat Chico as well. I think he has a pretty good chin, but your right, he probabaly has never faced a guy with Chico's power. The only thing that Diaz seems to lack is the power, but he does everything else so well. I think he a a lot of potential to be very good and make an impression on boxing. Fans want to see him fight because he has a very exciting style and he is so young h still has time to improve. For as young as he is I think he is a prettyy well rounded fighter.

He is a very well rounded fighter and I love watching him. My reasoning behind the Freitas fight is that Diaz is really young even though he is a world champ. I can't help but think of a young champ named Fernando Vargas taking on a big punching champ by the name of Tito Trinidad. I'm not saying that Juan will get beat like that but the possibility is there. A devastating loss at this age could cripple what could be a long and fruitful career. If there is one thing Diaz really has on his side its time. So no rush to make any fight (even a great one with Chico).

It seems that people agree that both fighters can win.One by UD the other by KO!

Diaz could win by TKO... Floyd beat Chico by TKO w/o a lot of punching power. Also, Chico could win by UD if he hurts Diaz early and Diaz becomes fearful to engage. I just think that Diaz by UD or Chico by TKO/KO are more likely.

Very good point amagnin. I actually have had the same thought cross my mind about a young Vargas and Diaz. That was the problem with Vargas he was amazing when he was young, but was pushed to hard to fast. I would hate to see that happen to Diaz because I really like him and think he jas a lot of potential. I would like to see the competition stepped up. Maybe Frietas would be a good matchup. Very good post amagnin. Also, it feels so good to noot talk about Floyd and Marg for a change.
