Expert bettors, what’s the smart bet?

When a huge underdog (like a Cancio or Ruiz) pulls the upset and there’s a rematch...

... that huge underdog remains an underdog but the odds get closer...

Do you bet on the dog who already proved he can win or do you bet on the favorite thinking he’ll be more prepared and win?

Depends on a lot, of you actually know boxing.

    Styles, IQ, recent history, conditioning.

Upsets are upsets, they are outliers. Do you expect it to happen twice? If it does, it probably means the bookies had it wrong, which they often can. I knew Maidana was better than Broner, I knew Fury was better than Wlad. I bet on Maidana against Floyd because while I considered Floyd the better fighter I thought the style matchup was close and they were underestimating Madiana which they were, I lost the bet, hedged, but don't regret the wager.

I trust my knowledge of the sport I have both practiced and watched for years over the bookies so I look to see where I can take advantage.

It varies on a fight by fight basis but take it from me - back Ruiz to repeat the trick again

Ain't a cheat code like that reallllly. Its situational.

And its worth noting Cancio was the favorite tonight not the dog.

Ruiz is still the dog, but yea he seems worth a bet to me. I don't buy all this sh^t about why Joshua loss doe.

That said I bet you probably could blindly bet the previous winner in a rematch when the first fight wasn't very competitive or the W was dominate & be up lifetime regardless if the guy was the favorite or the dog in the rematch.

Depends entirely on the odds you can get. It's not simply about who is going to win, it's about calculated risks.

It all depends on the individual fights. And Cancio opened as a underdog in the rematch then late heavy action came in on him winning so Vegas and other places actually made him the favorite heading into tonight.

I guess it depends on wether you believe the the underdog won the first fight...or the favourite lost it. Case in point is AJ -Ruiz I imagine. If you think Ruiz won...he will win again. If you believe the rumors and excuses about why AJ lost...the logic would say he will right the wrong. I err on the side of Ruiz. He beat AJ calmly...didn't panic and knew how to finish. He's a good fighter and I believe he will be able to adjust should AJ come with a better plan. And when he gets on top...whatever the excuses were the memories of the last one will come flooding back.

Thanks for clarifying. I thought I read he was the underdog recently and I was confused when everyone was telling me he was the favorite lol.

I appreciate it because I felt like an idiot hahaha.
