Pass him in what fanbase or legacy? 2 totally different things. Fanbase and money MAYBE. He's already one of the most famous boxers today and he's only 20 and not even a world champ yet. Yet he's already more paid then most fighters because of his endorsements and revenues he got going on outside the ring. Once he becomes a world champ his paychecks in and out the ring will only sky rocket. Most fighters you become rich and famous after you win a title and in many cases even after the title you need to beat a big name to cross over. Well he already has both and is so early in his career. Because he's so young and ahead of game in fame department and he unlike Canelo can speak English and sell himself on social media and other platforms (Canelo doesn't speak English and really doesn't go out of his way to sell himself Golden Boy and Oscar really do all the selling for him and he just chills and fights). That's a huge advantage to market himself to his fans and to enrage his haters (Floyd proved that haters buy your fights sometimes more then your fans do lol). If he keeps winning he could end up being the face of the sport for the next decade because he will only become more famous and polarizing.

As for legacy? I think there is almost no shot. I can't see Ryan winning titles like Canelo and beating guys Canelo has beaten. Canelo only 28 and his resume is already approaching ATG status. He's already a HOFer if he get's hit by a bus tomorrow. It will be very hard if not impossible for Ryan to hit those same achievements by 28 let alone in his entire career. But he definitely has a shot at making major paper and being the lightning rod for the sport just off the strength of his fanbase he got already.

Hes looking good, hes looking very good. He is going to have a very good career and create a good legacy. But Canelo (and i hate Canelo) has built one hell of a legacy and hes not even 30 yet. How many divisions has he gone up and been a world champ in? 5? Huge names on his resume. And the real money man in the sport at this moment. Pffft, thats some act to follow, like i said Ryan Garcia looks like he is going to do plenty in this sport but id be surprised if he can surpass Canelo.

Hope he stays off the drugs though, Canelo will always have that mark on him now. The Mexicans will back him as will Americans. He could be huge in that sense.

He would be more of a DLH than Canelo tho
that's the correct comp not Canelo. Canelo is more of a Chavez comp then he is a DLH. Oscar because of him stealing the show in the Olympics and winning gold. He turned Pro as one of the most decorated amateur who mother dies of Cancer then he wins Gold at the Olympics at a time when Americans still cared about boxing in the Olympics. People who are too young don't understand Oscar was like the biggest story that came out those Olympics not just boxing he was like Michael Phelps when he burst on the scene. Everyone was watching and talking about Oscar in the Olympics. So when he turned pro he was already a superstar and marketing machine before he won his first world title. He had the golden smile to sell and market himself and was bringing all these young women to his fights. That's very similar to what is going on today with Ryan minus the Olympic story background, Ryan was a elite decorated amateur bringing young women to his fights and like Oscar is very polarizing. Fans either loved or were jealous and hated Oscar. There was no in between just like Ryan.

I don't think he'll be as big as Canelo but if he keeps winning he will be a major star no doubt. He's already a big name at just 20 years old.

Yeah fellas, interesting comments. Now, the way he is heading, I personally think he has a big chance of surpassing Canelo. It may not be tomorrow, he is just 20 or so, so he ahs a lot to do, but the fame he has now, I think he will. Concerning Boxing skills, he is growing and will only get better. We'll see though right?

He's gotta work on that defense with the Canelo camp. Yes he fast and has decent POP but we will see when he steps up in levels.
