He was upgraded to "Full" titlist after Roman moved up to flyweight if I have the timeline correct.

According to WBA ranking, Roman Gonzalez held/kept the 'super' title at 108 for the whole 2013 even though he has moved up to 112.
Roman finally gave away his title on Jan. 2014, but Ioka also vacated his 'regular' title on Feb. 2014. Ioka had 3 defenses during that time but never defended against mandatories or interim champs so it's hard to say he had the right to be 'upgraded'.

I remember I first saw Ioka as a rough young brawler at 105, where he basically came forward and forced his toughness on you. I was pretty high on him back then. I kind of lost touch with his career - generally missed his fights at 108 & 112.

When I saw him against Arroyo, I forget who he was. He fought so much better technically & defensively from the young fighter I saw earlier. It took me awhile to connect him to that young brawler I remembered.

Losing a close one to Nietes - but Nietes is a HOFer.

This was a great performance.

Ioka's next should be against the top at 115. Time's a wasting for him.


And finally, man the SupaFly division just keeps delivering. When Chocolatito crashed & burned & Monster left without doing much here, I was kinda bummed. Now Im as excited as ever. There are alot of really good fights to be made here.

Unless my memory is fuzzy, Acre won belts in four divisions, two from vacant bumfights against the same opponent. His flyweight belt was interim while Wonjongkam was the full beltholder. Would have been one of the great fights of the past 15-20 years if they'd fought.

I can never keep track of whether it was a full title, interim, etc. so I dont bother.

Just look at the fighters a dude beats within each division.

Honestly, Oscar beat only nobodies at 130. I dont really consider him a champ at that division. He got some help from the judges v Sturm for his only 160 "title" win. Thats suspect too. He still had a great career with plenty of great wins across 4 divisions, from 135 to 154. And *technically* a 6 division champ.

Hell, Ioka's title at 115 is really not much right now. Palicte isnt the class of the division. Thats why I said I want to see Ioka make more of a splash at 115 before I consider him a real 4 division champ and a HOF lock.


Remember whenever you're citing "4 division champ" as some sort of great accomplishment that Adrien freakin Broner is a "4 division champ". It means nothing if there arent good fighters you beat in every division -- like Oscar did across 4 divisions, and Ioka has a chance to do now.

Yeah, I can barely remember (bc the fights were not significant), but Im pretty sure several of Travieso's "division titles" were not that impressive.

Acre was one of my favorite fighters at the time, I just think a lot of the titles people brag about show how silly the system of 4-7 title belts per division is. There are 68-80 "world champions" at any given time, if you include interim and "regular" titles

Arce was just an interim champ in one weightclass making him 4 div champ instead.

I thought Mexicans hate Oscar. Suddenly, he becomes an adopted when tallying Mexican accomplishments?
