they've been shoving wilder down our throats for about 1.5-2 years now in the mainstream media. he's got power, and that will always get views and buzz on social media. but does it sell fights?
ruiz has a proven business model. mexican americans ordering pay per view on mexican holidays. ruiz already has it built in to be an attraction on that level, where wilder required investment over years. ruiz caught lightning in a bottle. he's also mexican american, which is kind of lightning in a bottle at the moment as it is, other than canelo there aren't any mexican stars. -
Wilder, here come people in here with their coded language in so many words acting like black people don't buy anything or support anything...even though a huge overwhelming majority of the most popular fighters on the planet always seem to be black.Comment

This doesnt make sense. What has the 1st bit got to do with the 2nd bit? And what does any bit have to do with reality?Comment

Wilder is more important. We don't know if Ruiz will remain this "hot" seeing as how he hasn't even had a defense yet. If he gets brutally KTFO by AJ in his next fight he is no longer the toast of the town.
Ruiz isn't going to supplant Canelo as the primary Mexican draw. Wilder very well could become the primary draw for black fans. The evidence backing up my statement is the way DAZN tried to lure him with the massive $100 mil offer-same as GGG for 3 less fights.
Ruiz as "the 1st Mexican HWT champ" feels more like a talking point given he was never a big draw among Mexicans prior to the AJ fight. Lets see what he does first.Comment

Ruiz. Mexcicans are the biggest supporters of boxing in the US. Wilder has also been getting a massive push and his numbers on Showtime haven't improved at all.Comment
