Comments Thread For: Josh Warrington Now Aims For Big Fights in The United States

Josh Warrington admitted his frustration after squeaking out an unsatisfactory split decision win over Kid Galahad to retain his IBF featherweight title in Leeds. The home favourite had to dig deep to keep hold of his title in a fight far removed from his previous all-action title clashes with Lee Selby and Carl Frampton.

“I don’t want to be coming back here and defending the title against some bloke who works at the car-wash on the York Road.

We'll we might be able to help you, depends. We have (3) champs here. There all good. One fights once a year and just fought but insists he wants big fights. Then there's Leo logical choice 1-1 against the same Frampton you beat easy. Problem is he has same advisor as the first guy and don't take big fights no more and nobody knows why? Then there Valdez he's different, maybe a bit behind. He's demanding a Frampton fight. So come on over love to have you.

Warrington looked like a one trick pony against Galahad. I’d struggle to make a case for him against LSC or GR Jr.

LSC/GJR don't seem likely, Frank seems closer than ever with Arum but Valdez, Frampton seem lined up for each other so not many options. Stevenson looks ready to step up despite his age, SS would probably be the favourite for that, he's not a spoiler but very hard to pin on the ropes (like Galahad was), and Warrington isn't going to win boxing from centre ring or stalking him. His intensity, pro experience might count for a lot though, especially late on. That's the best fight to make outside of a unification

Everyone in the world knows the only place that matters is the US, but we don't want to see another c+/b- British bum cross the pond and put on a s/hit show. The only Brit allowed to fight in the states is King Fury.

That Galahad fight stunk, but the ref acted like Galahad was going to squeeze his way to a win. The same thing over and over, clutching and holding and grabbing. Jay Nady read Barrera the riot act about holding and we got a decent fight. That other ref just let the fight stink.

BT commentary was extremely biased during this fight. They were acting like Galahad was elusive and giving Josh a hard time. All I saw was excessive clinching, someone who came to pot shot and put the audience to sleep and this is from a Yemeni who absolutely loved Naseem Hamed. Josh tried to make it a fight. Can't fault him for how ugly the fight was and a well deserved win.

The commentary was outright fiction. I understand they have to talk up a slow product, but "in fighting" is not what I would call what I saw. I know it's hard to call out a homie, but we have to take the bitter with the sweet. The Kid had the nuts to get in there, that counts for something.

I think it would have sounded better simply to say "I wan't Oscar Valdez next!"
