  • Comments Thread For: Umar Kremlev Set as The Head of The Global Boxing Fund

Ekaterinburg, the biggest city of the Ural region of Russia, is a point where boxing powers unite at least for about a week as part of the Global Boxing Forum, a specific event to unite efforts in search for order and stability in the sport (both amateur and professional). I mean, yeah... boxing needs some unity and an overarching body at least to facilitate if not initially to govern, so I suppose I should be welcoming this but for some reason I'm sceptical - maybe it's cos of how readily the sanctioning orgs seem to be chiming in with support, or maybe it's just cos I don't know this Kremlev dude and am wondering just what he gets out of offering to clear AIBA's debts. There are genuine altruists in this world, of course, but rarely in positions of power or wealth in my experience.

AIBA appreciates such a large contribution to the organization.

Mr. Kremlev made this offer completely on his own. AIBA is sincerely grateful to Mr. Kremlev for making this offer and we look forward to discussing the offer with him further. I want to personally assure him that AIBA will operate with greater fiscal responsibility going forward. We are very blessed to have a member in our AIBA family with such philanthropic heart”, AIBA Executive Director Tom Virgets said.
Dude's clearly not short a bob or two...
