GGG is so overrated

Everyone knows by now that GGG is a low risk individual. He even fights cautious against top names like canelo and jacobs. Low risk fighters won't take tough fights. That being said, I am kind of tired of these "captain obvious" topics. GGG is not a bum, just a low risk fighter with a stagnated career trying to make as much $$$ as possible.Comment

Combination of too long in the ammys and the BS he had with his promoter in Germany (Universum) who kept him from their bigger draws and then slapped an injunction on him when he tried to leave 'em. In the end when he did finally manage to restart his career in the US it was with a minor league promoter with no stable and little influence (Loeffler) in a division with no significant US stars, but with a second rate strap in that division as his only leverage to get any fights at all. Even with HBOs backing he only started to become significant enough to be attracting decent opponents (financially) by the time he was 33 or so, by which time most guys are already on the downside of their careers.
Combination of timing and bad luck mainly, and whilst I don't really approve of many of his career choices since 2015/6 when the Canelo payday became a possibility it's hard to imagine that anyone can't understand them.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 06-13-2019, 03:47 AM.Comment

That’s hard to accept when said fighter had such a great knockout streak. He also gets tagged a fair bit with his style. Fighting Nelo is big risk because he’s good and has more stroke than anyone. But the money was there. It’s easy to stand back and say a fighter shoulda bum rushed another fighter, but that’s bull*****. Getting punched sucks. Nelo couldn’t do it to Floyd or ggg himself. The cream rises to the top. The best should stymie eachother. I mean were u surprised Tyson couldn’t hurt Holyfield?Everyone knows by now that GGG is a low risk individual. What are you talking about. His last opponents Jacobs, Canelo, Rolls are all his size or bigger. Why does GGG get away with not fighting decent boxers his size? He’s scheming for Canelo but 168 is so loaded, yet he won’t fight anyone with a belt there.
Andrade is also there, why can’t he fight him and take his belt. Then make GGG vs Canelo 3 an undisputed bout?
The guy is another fraud that the media built up like Lomachenko. I want to see Loma also fight decent boxers his size and not a weight drained Rigo.Comment

Rolls? Lol.
Canelo was fighting at 154 for a long time and he moved up to fight GGG. GGG has been at 160 throughout his career and by now he should’ve cleaned up 168 and be up there at 175 fighting for titles. The clown didn’t even fight the best at 160.
Jacob is the only credible opponent he beat and it was a close decision.Comment

Resume is as much or more about opportunity as it is about ability, man.
Granted there's guys GGG could have fought more recently whilst he's been chasing the Canelo payday, but saying that cos he hasn't fought them he couldn't beat (or maybe that he hasn't fought them because he believes he wouldn't beat) them is just as weak as claiming victories by default over guys he hasn't yet fought. Fights that haven't happened tell us nothing either way about the abilities of a fighter.
Dudes claiming Golovkin is some kind of elite atg (though contrary to how some will portray it there's very few of these) are probably overating him. Dudes saying he's **** average, nothing special, mediocre or whatever are probably underating him. Overated by some, underated by others with the majority probably getting it about right, seeing him as a very good fighter but one who we unfortunately never saw fully tested in his prime.Comment

GGG is not a bum, but he is not the fighter so many said he was.
He fought close with Canelo and Jacobs
He is an A- fighter with no balls for a challenge.Comment
