Good for Andy and a well deserved honor. I hope Andy sticks around for a while.

You Mexican dont put to much pressure on this guy. Dont jump off the bandwagon of he loses to a quality fighter. I have the feeling Ruiz will come out ahead in most fights now that he has following.

Win or lose it doesnt change that he made history and represented his heritage with honor. Im glad Mexico honored this guy because the President of his own country doesnt have a clue and doesnt understand the scope of what Andy has accomplished.

Andy is a class act and I wish him well in his future fights.

no need for that, ruiz him self is a canelo fan, and canelo inspired him before the fight and fully embraced him after the fight...
just look at canelos twit to Stephen A Smith... you can tell canelo really likes the guy...

That's actually not entirely true. I saw Ortiz fight in Hialeah prior to their first fight and Wilder was there and you couldn't get near him when he was walking around. He actually was getting mobbed for autographs. And that was in 2017. But yes fans pretty much blow in this country and he doesn't get half the respect or recognition he deserves here.

How exactly does that make me or anyone else a hater or a dumbass because I know the facts and question a bull**** storyline put in place to sell tickets and subscriptions to all the Mexican fans? What country is he actually a citizen of? Even if he is an American citizen if he chooses to fight for Mexico God Bless him. I could care less. Benefits me not one bit if he were to say he was from America. People were only questioning the "Mexican born" storyline because it's not true. I was happy for him, he seems like a nice kid.
he has dual citizenship... i have yet to hear that mexican born story...

Again I read it after the fight and pointed it out to several of my friends because I knew it was wrong. Once again I could care less who he fights for, he seems like a real nice kid. As was said had he been knocked the **** out I'd be curious if Mexico would be "claiming" him. By the way Boxrec has and continues to have an American flag next to his name and lists his nationality as "American.' Guess they need to fix that.

dual means he is american and also mexican, so nothing wrong with boxrec, mikey garcia is also well embraced by mexicans by the way... had he beaten spence he could have also been there with the president... losers dont get those privileges..

Boxrec doesn't list him a "dual." It's says Nationality: "American flag" USA

That cartel money for the California Kid.....sounds familiar, but ends in fishnets and kitchen utensils.

                      Sidefx996,

I don’t think you realize why we will never accept your way of thinking. We do not subscribe to your way of thinking because we know the truth, the history behind it. Ruiz is Mexican, regardless of where he was born. The ancient Mexicans were many many different tribes and clans of native people who lived here for thousands of years. They had direct contact with all neighboring tribes. There were no borders like we have now. Why in the hell would we allow you dictate who is Mexican or who isn’t based on what you think and your made up border? And you said you know the facts? What facts? Are they actually facts? I mean is it really true, or is just the Eurocentric point of view and nothing more? A lie really, a lie covering up murder of hundreds of millions so really think deeply before you speak of knowing the facts when you’re simply speaking of the way you were taught to think.
