  • Comments Thread For: Claressa Shields vs. Ivana Habazin For Vacant WBO Title, Aug. 17

Barely a year after Vasiliy Lomachenko and Kosei Tanaka became three-division titlist quicker than anyone else in boxing history, Claressa Shields is ready to raise the ante. The unbeaten, undisputed middleweight champion is ready to add a third divisional crown to her arsenal as she vies for a vacant 154-pound title. Her mad dash towards creating more boxing history will come versus former welterweight titlist Ivana Habazin on August 17 in Shields' hometown of Flint, Mich.

I need to see more knockouts in women’s boxing. If they don’t lengthen the rounds to 3 mins and add championship rounds to title fights I am just no longer interested. Tired of pitty pat punches and fights that always go the distance

Women’s boxing would be a lot better and bigger if they just let the boxers work for more time, 2 mins is no way enough time for these boxers to work and ultimately hurt their opponents

First off cool sh^t to have Shields fight in Flint for her first time as a pro.

And secondly...Who the fook is that girl boxrec breakdown:

29yr old Croatian who's boxed for 9 years.

          20-3 (7) record.

4-3 (2) vs opponents with a winning record.

16-0 (5) vs opponents with a even or losing record.

10-0 (3) vs opponents with no pro wins.

This will be her US debut.

Went 10 rounds Cecilia Braekhus losing every round on all 3 scorecards.

Best W is a 10 round split decision over Sabrina Giuliani (12-1). Looks like the split decision was likely bs doe cuz they fought in Belgium where Giuliani is from & the scores were 10-0, 8-2 & 4-6. Giuliana is a pretty bs record girl too with a 3-1 record vs opponents with a winning record & 6-0 vs opponents with no pro wins.

I don't want to hate on this but they really need to be a bit more honest about the scope of this achievement.

There are 25 middleweight professionals in women’s world boxing and 17 at super middle. So Claressa is a double champion vs 42 women over two weight divisions.

No doubt she’s the clear best around her weight but please let’s not compare this to men’s boxing. There are over 1700 professionals in Lomachenkos current division.

            Let’s please be real here

I wonder how much more weight she can shed after this. She started at 168, now she's down to 154. 14 pounds lighter.

It's women's boxing bro. Shields' first and second divisions show 17 and 25 active female fighters in the entire world. It's slim pickings. They probably fight for $250 a show.

Huh? I'm just giving my standard "Who the fook is that guy/girl boxrec breakdown" on an opponent no one knows.

Woe is me about the state of womens boxing to someone else.

I'm not really sure what elicited that response, I was just saying it's pointless to critique a female fighter's resume when there are about 20 other women in their weight class for them to fight.
