Comments Thread For: Tyson Fury Says WBO Title Could Be at Stake With Schwarz

Tyson Fury claims Saturday's fight with Tom Schwarz could yet be for the WBO heavyweight title so recently lost by Anthony Joshua. Fury, 30, fights in Las Vegas for the first time, against Germany's Schwarz at the MGM Grand, having recently signed with influential US promoters Top Rank and ahead of an anticipated rematch with WBC champion Deontay Wilder next year.

I doubt it. As Fury should remember from his own experience, IBF are the only sanctioning body that seem to strip new champions if they take a contracted rematch instead of a mandatory challenger.

Leave it to the WBO to pre-strip someone before they even have a chance to defend it, and all for sanctioning fees.

Maybe not this time, but the WBO will strip Andy Ruiz at the first opportunity to gift the belt to Tyson Fury. I mean he's with Top Rank now.

Fury vs unknown boxer from Argentina for vacant WBO title soon.

OMG, Tom Schwarz is actually ranked #2. by the WBO! The HW division is horrible.

Even worse he’s with Warren too, so you have number 1 and 2 promoter that the WBO bow too on the same page..... I’m surprised Ruiz ain’t stripped already.

We all know they don’t want Wilder to get all the belts because it’s going to be hell trying to getting them

If Ruiz vacated and the WBO stripped and called the mandatory, it would be between Usyk v Whyte for 50:50
