Comments Thread For: Bob Arum Gives Updates on Shakur Stevenson, Michael Conlan

On August 3rd Michael Conlan (11-0) will have a chance for revenge. He will face his rival from the 2016 Olympics,, Vladimir Nikitin (3-0) in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The 27-year-old Conlan lost a controversial decision to Nikitin in their quarterfinal match in Rio. He reacted by raising his middle finger at the judges and delivered a profanity laced tirade in his post fight interview and accused the officials of corruption.

Is Shakur going to jail for almost murdering that guy? Seems like he should probably do some time for that one.

      1) Conlan seems obsessed with wanting to avenge that loss from the Olympics, but Nikitin was just the "symptom" and not the cause to the disease, i.e. corrupt judges. Conland should rather let go on what happened and feel pleased about the changes now taking place in Olympic boxing prior to the 2020 tournament. This obsession with avenging his loss by defeating Nikitin as a pro sends the wrong signal about his mentality and focus. The whole thing about meeting Nikitin seems bizarre, and it is weird that his team allows him to focus on this obsession rather than his pro career. He has everything to loose in this match, and nothing to be gained really.

      2) Stevenson's last fight was very impressive, but the WBC has removed him from their rankings as he has not enrolled for their VADA testing. Until Stevenson and his management explains why, Stevenson is not someone I want to follow closely. I want the sport clean, and upcoming boxers who does not want to get tested can be as good as they want to be. I do not care. There has probably been a lot of doping in professional boxing the last decades, and the sport has to start somewhere. When the WBC removes fighters who refuse to get tested, that's good, but what does it help when other sanctioning bodies don't follow up? And why does not promoters and managers understand that this is the new way forward?

I'm the last person on earth to say someone should go to prison (ive done worse than most myself) But these clowns both should go to Prison for beating up Women like they were men,& worse yet they were punching Women directly & the Women didn't get ktfo but in fact were throwing bowls back.

These 2 are so called professional fighters aka combat "experts",& yet they will never be looked at the same ever again because its hard to take fighters seriously after that video. I feel like losing weight & fighting them as the next "bum"(Rolls fought g ffs) after seeing them look like they learned to punch on ***** street

He was charged a year ago for a misdemeanor. Probation at most.

Murder? He was charged a year ago with a misdemeanor. Slightly worse than an overdue library book. The fight was a set up to provoke a fight and shake him down for money. They'll cash in and Stevenson will now realize he's a target. Happens all the time.

These are two of the worst photos of either guy on line, absolute garbage. They look like extras from Lord of the Rings.
