Abraham responds to Miranda!

"It doesn't matter which gloves we wear. At the end Miranda will be lying on the ground."
A good month before the IBF middleweight title fight between champion Arthur Abraham and Edison Miranda, the Colombian challenger has opened the verbal battle. Yesterday Miranda issues a statement saying Abraham is afraid of his power and won't agree to using "Reyes" gloves. The titleholder who is preparing for the fight at the Max Schmeling Gym in Berlin just shakes his head at these statements. "This is ridiculous," said Abraham. "It doesn't matter which gloves we wear. At the end Miranda will be lying on the ground. I am the champion and thus I have the choice of the gloves. This is that simple."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sauerland general manager Chris Meyer is also surprised by verbal attacks of the challenger. "In the negotiations with Miranda's promoter, not a word was said on the glove question. These attacks are not justified. With us in Germany, both boxers must box with the same brand and size of gloves. We have confronted Arthur with Miranda's wish, but, of course he wants to fight with the gloves he knows and with which he also trains. Besides, we have an equipment supplier contract and cannot box simply with other brands of gloves. Because we are the organizer of the fight and Arthur is the world champion, this situation is clear. We have also confirmed this with the IBF." Sauerland Event won the right to stage the event at an IBF purse bid, and with that, the choice of the gloves is also incumbent upon the German boxing stable.
