Comments Thread For: Hooker Embraces Long Overdue Home Clash vs. Jose Ramirez

Three fights into his present title reign, there was no time like the present for Maurice Hooker to enjoy a homecoming. His promoters made good on that promise in a very big way. The unbeaten World Boxing Organization (WBO) 140-pound titlist will return to the greater Dallas area for a July 27 unification bout versus Jose Ramirez, who puts his World Boxing Council (WBC) title at stake. The bout-easily the biggest fight of his eight career-will headline a live DAZN-streamed event at College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.

This is a real good matchup. Credit both for being willing to risk what they've earned and lay it on the line. Although in Texas, Ramirez should find some support there as well. From a skill perspective fans can expect an A+ performance from both corners. I see it going the distance.

Maurice is in deep. His style won't bother Jose, the young master was no problem. Perez gave Mo fits and Ramirez is better than Perez. I'm going Ramirez by decision, or late stop. Home town won't matter.
