Yea I don't think he's taking that one well. He was dogging Ruiz pre-fight, during the fight & post-fight I think.
Arum seems to really rely on his matchmakers in how skillful his guys are, but it seems like they misjudged Ruiz pretty bad. Or they were overally judgmental on Ruiz's shape I'm not entirely sure which. But yea they are f#cking kicking themselves whatever else they might say negative about Ruiz + what they've already said.
I remember when it happened. Ruiz was so happy he got away from Arum. I’m glad Haymon saved him. He let Ruiz go then went and signed the most boring Heavyweight with drug problems. Arum made a big mistake.
Both DAZN and Haymon won in different ways. Haymon because he manages Ruiz and DAZN wins because now Joshua Ruiz 2 is the most anticipated fight of the year. Add in great fights like Canelo vs GGG 3 or Andrade/Sulecki winner, Ramirez vs Hooker, Machado vs Cancio 2, Inoue vs Donaire, Vargas vs Kameda and you know DAZN is killing it right now.
He got compensated by PBC to get Ruiz out of that contact but yeah he is salty AF
"Nobody knows Andy Ruiz better than us. Apart from the Joshua fight and the one before, we promoted every one of his fights.
“He’s a gutty guy and he’s got fast hands, but he’s still ponderous on his feet and he doesn’t punch hard. So, I don’t know what the f** was I watching.
“I mean, I just can’t figure it out. I really can’t figure it out. Something was wrong. Something I can’t figure out. I mean unless he was caught off guard."
