I feel like this may be heading towards Kovalev getting stripped.
It will be completely the opposite, most probably. Yarde's team will lose the purse bid and then refuse to go to Russia and lose their mandatory position consequently.
Whatever you want to call it it's clear that most of the minor promotions are having to figure new ways of doing business in this era of distribution exclusivity. Basically if you ain't aligned with one of the major promotions your fighters ain't gonna get airtime in the US.
I surely hope not. I know Kovalev just opened up his boxing school in Russia, and should now get to making the fight happen.
What about Kovalev's legal issues ? Didn't I read something about that being on his plate during the summer as well ? Does that have any impact on his training or scheduling ?

It's not what I want to call it, it's what Bob Arum called it when he tried to sue Al Haymon.
Now Arum has sham promoters of his own like Kathy Duva

I though he had a court date in April and May. Don't have any further info. People here talk about a trial in August, but I found no info on this.

Indeed. What a hypocritical asshole. Ain't really anything to do with the point I was making though.
I ain't really into this thing of playing fanboy and hater over promoters - they're all a bunch of crooks for my money - but I am interested in how the boxing business model is evolving to cope with new situations and emerging technologies.
EDIT: 'sides which it occurs to me now that maybe you've failed to grasp the import of using a proxy promoter / co-promoting as it applies to Arum and Haymon.

Now that fight in Russia isn't happening Warren will try and win purse bid!!
Frank Warren is going to pony up some huge money to try and get the fight put in England as Kovalev and main Events ****ed up by not having their investors finalize everything so the fight happened in Russia!
Wonder if Warren now tries to take this fight to the UK? Granted, TR is the co-promoter of Kovalev so winning a purse bid won't be easy, but it makes sense for Warren to get this in the UK.
