Mayweather-N’dou was a very good fight. What I’ll always remember about that one is that Floyd was very fortunate to have a seasoned referee in that one. Or a least one that knew what the hell he was doing. Because I believe it was the fifth round Floyd hurt N’dou badly. But N’dou mounted a comeback and Floyd allowed himself to be pinned to the ropes and proceeded to let N’dou throw about 30-40 punches at him. And he did so without Floyd ever punching back. N’dou probably didn’t land but about two or three of the punches. But a lot of referees would would stop a fight when a guy has that many punches throw at him and doesn’t return fire. But it was a very good performance against a good fighter.

lovemore was better than phillip. phillip was ko'd by a 13-14 fighter before fighting floyd so probably thats why he said he was glass. also he was a 130 pounder fighter moving up to fight floyd. a typical showcase fight. nice record that looks good for casuals but yeah not a very good fighter. especially not for a championship level fight. cherry pick to look good and it worked perfectly

Except Lovemore N'dou was even a much tougher fighter than Phillip. He was never KOd and took every shot Cotto could put on him. Then did the same against Canelo and Kell Brook amongst other top fighters.

Casual fans didn’t care about Floyd in those days. It wasn’t a showcase, it was a stay-busy. Floyd had already beaten the best guy at lightweight. He wanted to move up to 140 and fight Gatti. But Gatti wanted no part of him. And a superfight with Kostya Tsyzu wasn’t doable because Floyd was under contract with HBO and Tsyzu with SHO. If you’re gonna tell the story, tell the whole story.

AT THE TIME, he had ONE loss. A stoppage, not a full KO. Stop using hindsight to rewrite history.

AT THE TIME, what told you about a glass anything?

Most of these cats weren’t following boxing back then and are using boxrec arguments. N’dou isn’t an ATG. But he was an adequate opponent for anyone at 130 or 135 at the time.

And I'm not saying he wasn't a soft touch or at least, not A level. I'm just critical of this notion that he was a glass jaw bum. He was no more a glass jaw bum BACK THEN than Indongo is now.

Emmanuel Burton had a way worse record yet gave Floyd all he could handle. N'dou at the time put up a SOLID fight, but no he wasn't in Floyd's class. Regardless, the performance Floyd put on is what matters in what Haney's saying.
