Callum Smith got the momentum going back in his career again with a scintillating showing. The former British and European champion had been out since last September's win over George Groves. Smith travelled to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia to face The Saint' in the final of the World Boxing Super Series, stopping him inside seven rounds.

Fast Eddie still thinking he can dictate to Golden boy and Canelo that the fight will take place in England huh? Better at least be a 5am fight so all of canelo’s fans will be awake to tune in.
Fast Eddie just isn’t getting the picture is he....

Smith is a tough out for anyone, including Canelo, if he takes up the challenge.

This is the problem with English fighters. They win one title (title is usually won against mediocre competition) and their ego shoots through the roof. They start talking about superfights neglecting the fact that one needs to be a superstar in order to have a superfight, they start making demands to pound 4 pound fighters, they win a fight against an over the hill b fighter and they behave as if they just ko'd the 1# fighter in the world.

Smith is surely following in the same steps as Cleverly and acting just as egotistic. I recall Cleverly just won the WBO title and he started making demands to Hopkins. We all know what happened to Cleverly. This is not the only example Kahn, Price, Eubank. They all have such undeserved egos.

I don’t think this is Smith tbh. Canelo is on DAZN, has a title at 168, and has mentioned Smith by name who is obvious with matchroom and has that indirect DAZN connection

Smith just said Canelo is a special fighter and he’d fight him but he can’t wait for him.

Obviously this wouldn’t happen in England. Unless Canelo really doesn’t rate Smith.

I think it’s a good fight. Smith is just so big. Maybe too big? Hard to tell until Canelo is in there. Good big man beats Great little man is the saying but Canelo is elite

Would prefer to see Smith take on some of the other champs at super middle before going for Canelo - what about Eubank, Benavidez, Ramirez or even Saunders? If he beats a couple of them then he has a right to call on Canelo.

C'mon Smith is an above average fighter. He is not that good. He is a B level guy. I have seen him fight many times and he does nothing special. He is a solid B fighter, but that is it. BTW the saying is a great big man beats a great smaller man. Not a good big man beats a great smaller man. Ad Smith is not a great fighter.

Ramirez, Benavidez and Saunders all beat Smith. Saunders will embarrass him.

That is due in part to the massive reception of uk boxing fans. Boxing is a major sport in the uk and fans fill stadiums and arenas the way Americans die for nfl football, baseball, basketball, hockey, or nascar. So if you can fight in front of 20,000 fans for a tomato can it can and does make you think you are more than what you really are on the world stage. It’s not a bad thing of course, but I agree, English fighters and therefore English fans do tend to go overboard on individual fighters’ worth. When I was a lad in England, we used to call most English fighters “domestic” fighters.....in the Matchroom era that concept seems to have been lost. Perhaps it should be realised again

What? They wouldn't be awake at 3-4 in the afternoon if they did the fight in the evening in the UK?
