I wholeheartedly agree with you. This also puts a little different perspective on the way people should view Adam Kownacki. Back ,I believe in the 40's and 50's there was a very good and very obese fighter named (Two Ton) Tony Galento.

Give Ruiz his props, showed heart, skill and did what Wilder, Fury, Ortiz and so many others weren’t willing to do..fight AJ. He was brought in to be a showcase. I think a rematch is the natural next fight for both especially if Wilder is fighting Ortiz next.

Some of you guys are acting like Ruiz is a new guy on the scene. Ruiz has been a pro for a decade. No one cared about him for a decade. I'll bet against him suddenly becoming the HW Canelo off of 1 fight. A guy becoming huge off of 1 fight is some movie sh^t. Its not real sh^t that happens in boxing.

Floyd built his rep for years in multiple divisions to get his opportunity to become huge in the Oscar fight. Same for Manny who also got huge from the Oscar fight. Tito. Oscar himself. Tyson. Holyfield. Lennox. GGG. Canelo. All these guys built themselves & their reps for years to become stars.

Ruiz got the right situation on one night & he's been fumbling around the HW division for a decade not getting attention or accolades.

Winky didn't become a star cuz he beat Tito. Rahman & McCall didn't become stars cuz they beat Lennox. Buster didn't become a star cuz he beat Tyson. And Ruiz isn't gonna become a star cuz he beat Joshua. Its just not that easy.

It could be. Ruiz is a guy who a lot of folks, not just fight fans, could get behind. Call him the Mexican Rocky for now, but he will get his own movie before long. He has a great story and seems to be very likable and charismatic. If he keeps winning, his name and face are going to be everywhere. I’m not just talking ESPN, but mainstream shows like Good Morning America, etc. As one writer put it yesterday, if he keeps winning he has the chance to become a sports folk hero in this country and Mexico. As far as your point about Ruiz not being a newbie and that stardom just doesn’t happen over night, I completely disagree. Plenty of athletes, musicians, actors, etc have become overnight sensations. Many languished in obscurity for years before getting their shot and making the most of it.

And my secondary point is he's still gonna be a hard sell to a lot of fans unless he takes a more humorous, making himself the butt of the joke type guy like Foreman kinda did in his 2nd career in the ring cuz most people aren't gonna take an overweight guy seriously in boxing.

Its not a thing man. And if you can dig up one guy he's the exception to the rule not the rule. So the odds of Ruiz being able to duplicate that are not gonna be great.

Look I like Ruiz. He seems like everyman type guy who anyone can root for & who doesn't like a good underdog story, but history suggests you should enjoy him now cuz this party isn't gonna last long. Thats just the reality of the situation. I'd love to be wrong. Ruiz being the undisputed champion who reigns for 5 years & retires with a perfect record as champ would be some crazy f#cking sh^t, but it's not very likely to go down like that. Its likely his over/under is 2.5 title defenses & thats assuming he gets the likely favorable outcome rematch with Joshua next.

Stop being so negative. Manny Pacquiao was a relatively obscure fighter who stepped up to fight reigning Super Bantam Champ Lehlo Ledwaba on two weeks notice. He was a 10-1 underdog, but he beat the piss out of Ledwaba on his first ever shot on HBO and he never looked back. On a different note, bring back that panda girl GIF and I will agree with whatever you say.

Ruiz won this fight fair and square. All the Joshua nut huggers are making excuses claiming Ruiz didn't win the fight Joshua lost it. As I've said from the Klitchko fight Joshua is a big strong weight lifter who beat and already beaten , rusty, old Klitchko and suddenly he's Mike Tyson. Ruiz to his credit beat a glass jawed weigh lifter. If you watch the fight Joshua was gassed by the third round. Joshua could win the rematch if he develops a jab and some stamina but he'll lose again quickly now that he's been exposed. Fury would outbox him and Wilder if he connects would put him in a coma. Joshua is a classy guy but he is no superman in the boxing would, it's all over

Joshua was a manufactured hype job all along. Eddie Hearn should be commended but only to the extent that the brits are a very gullible group. They believed that Frank Bruno was the next Joe Louis. Joshua was always robotic with decent power, a weak chin, and stamina issues. He avoided Luis Ortiz because of King Kong's power. His title winning victories were against Charles Martin and an old Klitschko. Only impressive to the naive brits! It's one thing to lose and another to be exposed. There was a heavyweight in the 80's named Alex "the destroyer" Stewart who was 24-0 before Holyfield knocked him out. He was never the same afterwards. Most likely Anthony Joshua will suffer the same fate. He does not seem to have the heart or chin to be relevant again.
