    Referee for Ruiz-Joshua Michael Griffin

I haven’t seen any threads addressing the referee Michael Griffin. I’ve seen Griffin ref a number of fights and never had a problem with him until last night.

    Couple criticisms of his performance:

He was way too quick to break the fighters apart. It could be that AJ’s team requested this as a similar thing happened in the Parker fight.

Anyway, this irks me (and should every serious boxing fan). By immediately breaking the fighters up from the clinch, it prevents any ‘inside fighting’ and changes the character of the fight. I don’t know why some refs do this.

Secondly, Griffin should have been a little more assertive with instructions as the second knockdown in the 7th round. It felt like he was not in control of what was going on. Also, why did he ask AJ if he wanted to fight and then call the fight off and AJ clearly said “yes.”

Should have had Mike Tyson as guest referee, kinda like when Stone Cold beat Shawn Michaels for the WWF World title.

Yea, he definitely wasn’t assertive and clear with his commands. He looked a little unsure of himself there.
