What's Next For Anthony Joshua - Shouldn't Excersise Rematch Clause

I think Ruiz is just a bad match up style for Joshua and Ruiz will most likely win even in a rematch. Joshua has always looked bad against short fighter (Takam, Povetkin, Parker and now Ruiz). Ruiz didn't win by a lucky punch.. He fought fantastically and was game and simply beat AJ for being the better man.

Ruiz is not only small he has fast hands and now he has the mental advantage with a win over AJ.. Absolute nightmare match up for AJ. Joshua fought like someone who had a bad camp and judging from his face scars he probably got beat up in sparring.

AJ will need to rebuild his confidence and maybe change trainer. The Ruiz rematch will be too much pressure on him and I think its the pressure that lead to this awful performance. I think his team will decide to rebuild him again against low level opponents to get KO's and get power and confidence back like he was when he was coming up.

That's leaves Ruiz free to be able to unify with Wilder.. Don't be surprised if Wilder cancels his fight with Ortiz and fights Ruiz and becomes undisputed. I think if AJ takes this route he can come back and put himself in position for a shot at the title and become champion.

Thing is, Andy is a bad style matchup for any of the "big heavyweights"

Josh struggles against shorter guys (Povetkin, Ruiz, Takam)
Fury struggles against shorter fast guys (Cunningham)
    Wilder is....Wilder

Depends on AJ's mental game. He looked checked out/dejected most of the fight. if it's a mental thing, it will just be a matter of time before he gets chin checked again. And if it's done by a domestic guy he hates (Whyte) I doubt he recovers. Joshua seems a lot more mentally weak than I thought he was.

Nah he’s gotta to get in there really.

If Ruiz batters him again then that’s his ceiling.

AJ is super rich he can’t drop through the levels.

It was a great performance but not sure it was a systematic beating. The first shot to the temple f.ucked him.

He would lose badly in a rematch. He should forget the rematch. Go back to the drawing board. Fight lesser known opponents for the next 6/7 fights. I thought they have rushed his career from the get go.

He had the chance to be undisputed under just 25 fights, for a boxer that didn’t have an extensive amateur background. Winning that belt from Martin he had no where else to go but take tough fights. Miller would have beaten him too IMHO. All the guys that avoided him must be kicking themselves now.

Hearn said he's thinking about that same thing. I agree. AJ already seemed to have the kind of issues Wlad had with confidence. That's why he's usually extremely cautious. I think he needs to make some changes and needs a couple confidence building fights.

Funny that Joshua and Wlad are close friends, and are on the phone a lot. Now Joshua fights like Wlad, scared.

Wow, are you really from England, saying that crap? Where's you're British pride, man!? Joshua can beat Ruiz with the proper technique. Andy is a tough man who has to be broken down, not steamrolled. Joshua has to use his height & reach advantages & box this guy. Jabs, combos, and once his spirit and face are broken KO him.

Funny you say that you think Miller would have won. He obviously didn't think so, or he wouldn't have gotten popped with count them, THREE peds!

If Wilder stayed poised like he was against Stiverne he'll get Ruiz out.. He's a faster more athletic boxer.. But if he goes wild I agree Ruiz could get him out of there. I think Fury is too schooled and beats Ruiz though.
